One more try on Clarkey. Clarkey Hunt (Hunter) Low mar. Dempsey Jay on 11/15/1827 in Randolph Co., IN. Dempsey was from a Quaker family but I don't know about Clarkey. The thought is that she was first married to a "Low" and her second marriage was to Dempsey. Although there are several records of Clarkey after her marriage, her parents and siblings are unknown. An Iowa census lists her as born in SC on 2/14/1803. She died 11/28/1858 in Salem, IA. Clarkey is an unusual name and I did run across a Clarkey Young mar. to a ____ Low in the early 1820's in Virginia. Coincidence? Also, there was a James L. Hunt in the 1850 Henry Co., IA census, also born in SC. His youngest child was a baby named Clarky Hunt. Might James have been Clarkey's brother?
