I'm not having any luck figuring out where my ancestor, Hibbard/Hibbart Hunt came to be one of the first of two "white" men to settle on Campobello Island, just across the inlet from Lubec, ME, or why he went there. Could he have been a Lloyalist who fled "the US" during the Revolutionary War? Could he have been a second or third son who wasn't going to inherit the farm?
