    2. Depends on what you want. My personal pros & cons: Genealogy: 1) Hosts a webpage with the subscription -- I use this & put a LOT of files, info & etc. on it. I don't know if you can get that w/o a subscription...? 2) Access to the Family Tree Maker CD collections, which is a lot of data that is out-of-print or hard to find. 3) Census records are extra -- and I'm not impressed with their index -- they use the old published ones, which are spotting & inaccurate. Ancestry seems to have better indexes, plus fast loads (on cable modem at least), and full-jpeg imaging that you can save to disk. Wouldn't bother doing the census at Genealogy.com 4) Lots of family history books & local records in those sections. Most out-of-print, hard to find in libraries -- if they will even lend it out, even on interlibrary loan. 5) NY & NJ records section seems good to me. Ancestry: 1) Census is king -- one-stop-shopping for all your census needs, with images, start to 1930. 2) Strong military records section. 3) Strong immigration records section. 4) Has a newspaper section, but I've found it weak 5) English records (Great Britain & some Ireland) section is very useful if you need that sort of thing I do both because there are things in each that I want. Neither covers the entire spectrum on their own.
