Researching ancestors/descendants John Hunt. First appears in Granville County, North Carolina, Epping Forest Tax District rolls, in 1764. (present-day Kittrell, Vance County, NC) d. before 1796. m. Hannah Park (d. 1805) Sons Jonathan b. abt 1770, Samuel b. abt 1768, James b. abt 1774. Daughters Sarah (m. Claiborne Finch), Mary (m. Blanton Cook). I descend from Jonathan > Moses Park > Moses J. > William > Paul A., all North Carolina. Some sources have John as being of the Henry Hunt family, but it is not the right area of Granville County. Searching for a William or John Hunt born about 1850 in Ireland. All dates that follow are approximates. John or William marries a Nora/Honora/Elanora Connor  (b. 1853). I know of 2 of their children Martin Hunt b. 1869 and Mary Hunt b.1871; there may be others. Mary and Martin Hunt are in the USA by 1890, first in NYC and then Jersey City, NJ, but I don't think their parents came over from Ireland with them. Mary Hunt marries John Fitzgerald in 1892 in NYC; these are my ggrandparents. Their marriage certificate lists Mary Hunt's father as William. Mary's death certificate lists John as her father and it also lists Limerick as her place of birth.Nora Hunt is buried in Holy Name Cemetary in Jersey City, NJ in 1906, but I don't know when she arrived in the states. I don't have any record of Martin Hunt after the 1900 census.Any connections?Eileen

Hi Deb I live in South Australia and my mothers maiden name is Hunt. I have been trying without success to find her father's (Edward Anthony Hunt,) mothers name. He says he was born in Moonee Ponds Vic around 1884? and his marriage cert in SA says his father was a Thomas Hunt. After all the messages relating to the US it was a surprise and delight to find a Hunt here...
