    3. Ancestry.com, Genealogy.com, Rootsweb.com, the MyFamily sites and Family Treemaker genealogy program ALL are owned by MY FAMILY, who in Dec. changed their name to The Genealogy Network. They are making some changes/improvements in everything. Last year they changes some of the prices and make "packages" (my wording). Since I am not doing any research overseas I have only the US "package" and it give me the census, births, marriages, deaths, obituaries, social security records (which Rootsweb as for free) and the draft cards for WW I and WW II. I pay less than $100.00 a year. I have used the Family Treemaker program since version 3, back when I started my research in 1994. I just gave up a five year battle with my knees and had total knee replacements in both knees Nov. 22 and I am still in the process of healing. My husband and I are getting along in age and can't afford to travel to all the courthouses, etc. and get the information that Ancestry.com provides me right here in my home. Therefore I am well satisfied with what I get for my money. Hazel Scanned for viruses by Blue Coat http://www.WinProxy.com/

    2. Hazel, I didn't know that you were over here on the Hunt line as well as the Shumate line. I have to agree with you and I am not that far up there in years (BTW everybody, Hazel's birthday is in 3 days. shhhh, don't tell her I told you) Ancestry. com has allowed me to find information quickly, which I can then go and verify in person. I have had my beefs with them, but, like you, I now pay less than $100 a year and think that it is well worth it. It is the only thing I pay for online. I have found living relatives doing research on lines which I thought were dead an that I was the only one left alive to search. It may not be for everybody. After all a hundred dollars is a hundred dollars. If you can afford it, you might find that your bigamist grandfather once lived in Michigan (in hiding before getting his second family) by finding his WW I draft card. His address where he livrd with my father is on his WW II draft card and I found my father's enlistment card as well for WW II. All with just a few key strokes. I am, after all, up at 2:11 in the morning doing research on ancestry right now. A practice which my local libraries and courthouses seem to frown upon. Happy HUNTing to all, however you do it. Anybody able to help with a Rebekah Hunt in Hendricks County Indiana daughter of Zimri (I think) who married William Hankins? Steve

    3. Hi Steve, We have at least one more Shumate cousin here on the Hunt list, Glenn Ann Hunt, researching her husband in Georgia. Some of Hunts were in Georgia and married into my Payne and Walker lines in Blairsville, Union County, Georgia. She is also on the Walker list. So far we only connect on the Shumate line. My main Hunt line was in Autauga County, Alabama. My paternal great, great grandmother, Martha Melinda Hunt, married William Ross Weaver there. Two more Hunt siblings married siblings in the Weaver family. Talk about double kin, (:-} William and Melinda's daughter, Martha Susan Weaver married my great grandfather, Jonathan S. Payne from Blairsville, and they moved to Winn Parish, Louisiana with William and his family. My Hunt line is part of "the 14". I checked my database for your Rebekah and didn't find her. Catch you later. Hazel Scanned for viruses by Blue Coat http://www.WinProxy.com/

    3. Hello Hazel, You say you are of "The 14". I can not remember if we have talked before, or not. Just how do you fit in? My line goes from me, Allen D. Hunt, to Allen F. Hunt, to Herman Hunt, to Thomas Sumpter W. "Pappa Daddy" Hunt, to George McDuffie Hunt, to William Lacy Hunt, to Esli Hunt who was one of "The 14." I do have lots of information and it is under the web site that Courtney established at: http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Plains/4813/ .. I also did some research on those "Indian HUNTs" that live near the NC/SC border -- of the Tuscarora and the Lumbe Tribes, That database is also at Courtney's web site. There is an interesting story there of adopted last names. 3. Hi Hazel, My Great-Great Grandfather, William H. Hunt was in Autuaga County Alabama in the 1860 census. He married Malona Mathany there. Malona's older sister Martha also married a member of the Weaver family there. Could be we have some sort of connection.
