The 1860 census of Webster Co.MO saya he was b in NC.(where? Which is correct??? He m Sidney COOPER 17 Mar 1818 in Brentwood Williamson Co TN. She was b in York Co. SC. Parents were Hugh COOPER b in Chester District SC 1771 and Catherine BREAKFIELD. Grandparents were Robert COOPER b 25 Dec 1746 Ulster,Ireland ,(and Jane Hamilton b 29 Nov 1752 St Augustine FL.???) Sidney's ggf was also named Hugh. Squire was in Williamson Co.TN in 1830, Maury, Co. 1840, and in Giles Co. 1850. He was a shoemaker by trade. He and a son William Marion, in 1856 had shoe shop on Olive St. in Springfield, MO. The story goes that Jesse JAMES tried to rob the shop one day, but changed his mind when confronted with a shoe knife. William Marion had a daughter Sarah Melinda b 9 Nov 1849 in Giles Co. Sarah moved to Webster Co MO. ca 1868 where Squire lived and died .He is believed to have had a son by an early marriage. He had several children by Sarah including Thomas Jefferson. who was married in Webster Co.MO. and later moved to Stone Co. MO. Interestingly Thomas A. had a son named Henry Marion. I believe Thomas A.. could very well be a cousin of William Marion HUNT
