    3. hello all does anyone have a link to a civil war site that tells where the soldier was from , lived , spouces name , or age or any of the above i have found several that has where they mustered in and out and what company and regiment they were in any help is most appreciated bobby hunt augusta ky

The National Park Service has a website called Civil War Soldiers and Sailors System. http://www.itd.nps.gov/cwss/soldiers.htm At a minimum, type in a surname and a list of names of both Union and Confederate troops will be presented, along with the regiment. You can then click on the regiment, which will produce a page giving the history of that regiment, including where and when mustered, journeys, functions, actions seen, where and when mustered out, number of men wounded and killed, etc. This site is NOT complete, and is in the process of adding more names. Nevertheless, it is one of the best sites I have found to date in finding CW soldiers. Many states also have regiment sites. Good luck. Elwyn D.
