"hbis ancestry is traced backe to the Colonial period in American History, for he is a great great grandson of Colonel Thomas Hunt,(attn: Fairport Bill Hunt), who commanded a regiment of American troops in the Revolutionary war. Eldest son Col. Henry Jackson Hunt removed from NY to Detroit and served as a Colonel of of the militia from 1800 to 1818. 1826 elected mayor of Detroit." Never heard of these people but need a lead as to who they are--that is, their pedigree particularly NY area and the family line. I thought I knew all the Michigan Hunts!! Sandy Hunt Lubbock Texas
Sandy et all Check the archive. I believe these Hunt families are in the Michigan Biography. I posted some data I found in it to the list back in April 2001. You wrote back correcting the information on John Hunt and Mary Webster but did not comment on the other Hunt's in the biography. I gleaned the data from " Michigan A Centennial History Of The State And Its People" , published by The Lewis Publishing Company, Chicago , 1939. (Which by the way, is on microfilm at the Michigan State Library ). The book does not give much information on the New York lineage. Only states that Major James Stone Hunt was a great great grandson of Colonel Thomas Hunt. Sharon Burgess Chesaning Michigan
