    2. Sanford B Hunt
    3. It is contrary to my personal routine to leave senders message attached. There is nothing that gauls me more than to send a couple of megabytes to someone who asked for information and than to have them send it all back attached to a short message saying "THANKS". The information requested was asking for Civil War units and people. *********************************************** Regarding the request for Civil War information- I have a Civil War commission hanging on the wall in front of me signed by Abraham Lincoln appointing my great grandfather, Sanford Beebe Hunt as a Surgeon of Volunteers and later after the war a brevit commission appointing him a Lieutenant Colonel. Other items are his record as Surgeon of the Southwest signed by President Johnson. Both items are also signed by the Secretary of War, Edwin M. Stanton. Signatures on the earlier commission are handwritten in ink while the latter signatures are rubber stamps. All his letters from work to this wife during the Civil War are in the NJ Historical Society and available to anyone who wants to read them. After the war he became a newspaper publisher in NJ. Much information re units and people of the Civil War can be found in most public libraries in genealogy sections.. Sandy Hunt Lubbock
