Hunt Lubbock ========================================================================================== FAMILY NOTES Marriage(1): HUSBAND NOTES: Littleton HUNT Birth(1): Death(1): General: Littleton and family were living in Abbeville Co., Ninety-Six Dist., S.C. in 1794. In 1803 they were residents of Jackson Co., Ga. and in 1805 he and his wife were members of the Methodist Episcopal Church there. They were living in Cochran's Dist. along the Mulberry Fork of the Oconee River in 1807 and, as early as 1827, they were residents of Fincher's Dist., Gwinnett. Littleton enlisted as a private in Captain Hicks' Co. in Bruns- wick or Mecklenburg Co., Va, in Feb. 1777 for a two year term and was dis- charged at Savannah, Ga. in Feb. 1779. He re-enlisted in Spring 1780 at Mecklenburg Court House and was discharged 1781. He was wounded by a shell splinter in the left thigh during the Battle of Guilford, and at Eutaw Springs he was severely wounded in his leg. Later, he served twelve months, disarming Tories in North and South Carolina. The ex-soldier was allowed a pension on his application which was executed in Gwinnett on 4 Sept.1832. WIFE NOTES: Sarah WINN Birth(1): Death(1): General: Sarah was the daughter of Thomas and Philadelphia Winn. I believe he had large property in Berkeley Co., S. C., and opposed Sarah's marriage and she ran away with Littleton. It is doubtful they ever married, but neighbors stated (in pension papers) that everyone presumed they were married and they lived as common-law man and wife for many years and raised a family. The story goes that Sarah's younger brother missed her so much that he ran away a few years later and went to live with Sarah and Littleton. (I cannot find the documentation for this at the moment, but recall this to be true. F.K.G.) CHILD NOTES: Sarah HUNT Birth(1): General: !Married an Abbott and lived in Gwinnett Co., Ga. CHILD NOTES: Littleton Ira HUNT Birth(1): Death(1): General: According to pension records Littleton Ira was a surviving heir in 1846. His residence was in Hempsead Co. according to Max Williams, of 505 N. Lakeview Dr., Farmerville, La. 71241. CHILD NOTES: Thomas W. HUNT Birth(1): Death(1): General: Thomas W. is listed as a surviving heir in Littleton's pension papers in 1846, as living in Forsythe Co., Ga. Thomas W. drew land in (1832?) Land Lottery in Forsythe Co. Thomas married Lucy (Burris?) and was listed in Forsythe Co. 1850 Census as age 37. This may be the same Thomas W. as in T-316, of Old War Index to Pension Files 1815-1926; Mtd. Vols. Florida Date of Filing: 1850 Class: Invalid Cert. #6620 State: Georgia. O.W. Widows application # 23418. Marriages to Lucy Ann Burress and 2nd, to Martha A. Bryant, come from Wm. S. Bates, 1485 Maytfield Rd., Alpharetta, Ga. 30201-1121. If this man was born in 1823 (per 1850 census), then this cannot be the same man. CHILD NOTES: John HUNT Birth(1): Death(1): General: Probably dead by 1846 as he is not listed among heirs of Sarah in 1846. CHILD NOTES: Lucy HUNT Birth(1): Death(1): General: !Lucy is listed as living in Cobb Co. in 1846 in estate papers of Mother, Sarah Winn Hunt. CHILD NOTES: Mary HUNT Birth(1): Death(1): General: !Mary is listed in Littleton's pension papers as being alive when Sarah (her Mother) died in 1846. She married Benjamin Jones, probably in Jackson Co., about 1820. Their son, Rodham Tulloss Jones, along with other Hunt descendants, migrated to Smith Co.,Tx. ca. 1850. He married11 Dec.1856 to Lurana Elizabeth Buckholts at Tyler,Tx. SOURCES 1. Felicia Gourdin & Clara Hunt Miller(deceased). http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~tompkins/. END
