Dear List, I am at school this morning but wanted to see if someone could help clarify this family for me. I was researching the 1850 Greenville Co., Other townships, Image 22 of 305 and it shows a William Bates b. abt 1795 and wife Jane [Hunt] Bates along with thier children as follows: William age 21 --- Waddy age 18--- Susan age 16--- Esly age 14--Abraham age 10---Eliza age 10--- and Emily age 8. What I am wondering is, dads page shows William Bates married Jane Hunt abt. 1820, and then married her sister? Jincy Hunt abt. 1830. It appears to me that Jane and Jincy must be the same person because Jane appears in the census with William. It also show William Bates was 55 yrs. old on the census which was taken 6 Aug. 1850, which would have been almost 3 months after he died on May 18, 1850. I was wondering if anyone could help me straigten this out. I am showing my friends today in class this afternoon how to research the census since we gave T-Cap going on in some classes. Any help you can offer would be appreciated. I would be gratefull if you could share some stories or any pictures of the "Hunt14" families that you may have. I think it is so neat to find out about our relatuves. Also if you know of someone that would be willing to share thier family stories with me I would appreciate it.
