On our list of "missing persons" is a Smith G. Hunt. He was of adult age in the mid-1800's, and living in NY. We have been looking for this man due to an inquiry which I believe came via the Hunt List. It was probably a posting from quite a few months ago. I have lost/misplaced the original request (darn!) (sorry!), and the inquiry may have been by direct email to us, and not from a Hunt List member. The request was for a geographic placement only. If interested, please contact us via direct email. At least one "Smith G. Hunt" can be firmly placed using the town records of Brewster, NY (Putnam County). I have both the primary and a high quality secondary reference. You should also be able to find him in the Federal/State Censuses from this period (!). FYI to those researching either Westchester or Dutchess Counties or a possible removal to western NY State from there. Check the Putnam County records. Many Hunts are in Putnam; several of whom are descendant from the Hunt families in the latter two counties. I think that I repeat myself here..... BTW, this is not a Hunt line that we have been "actively" researching, and it is not our line. John jsc@i2020.net
