Greetings, listers. I am seeking information about several generations of HUNTs. I am looking for ROBERT U. HUNT who married EPHERETA ROBERTS [or GINTY, possible first marriage], date c. 1868, place Maine or Minnesota. They had a son born in Minnesota in 1869. He was HERBERT VINCENT HUNT, who married my grand-aunt MARY EGAN SHEPHARD in 1890. HERBERT HUNT once gave his father's place of birth as Switzerland and his mother's as Germany - which may mean that the HUNT name was originally something else, HUNIKER or HUNTZ or maybe JAEGER. HERBERT HUNT and MARY EGAN SHEPHARD (any spelling) had three sons who lived to adulthood and married - they were FRANK S. HUNT (born 1891), PHILLIP HUNT (1895), and LEONARD HUNT (1902), my father's first cousins. General area - Peabody, Massachusetts and New York City. I have a strong feeling that the children of those sons - the males being named HUNT, of course - are out there somewhere for me to find.
