    1. [HUNT-L] Hello- Some suggestions and thought to sare about the Hunt list and e-mail From FAYE IN FLORIDA

    3. First of all, the whole message system can be confusing. When you write someone a letter for a specific message first of all I would address it in the BODY of the letter not just at the top where it says subject... Include some type of identification of the person you need clarification from. for example: TO FAYE: Could you be more specific...give the state, dates you have... whatever The problem I had at first is that you are suddenly getting all these messages and if there is a question for you have no idea who they are asking. It took me a while to figure out that someone was asking me a question specifically. Keep in mind that we also are probably getting tons of e-mail ourselves.... I do and it takes ME hours to get through my e-mail even though I may be new to the Hunt group. Doesn't mean I don't get tons of e-mail already either. I would like to help but again being new, I don't know how to and don't have the data bases that you all are so fortunate to possess. Shoot, I am just now trying to decide what Hightower,_Hunt messages to save to my zip drive. Also, keep in mind that a lot of these people may have just purchased a computer and are lucky they can even get on line let alone find a geneology spot and ask a question. Even though someone may have been on computers for a long time (like ME) we have different skill levels and knowledge about the internet and how it use our particular set up. And, also consider that us "newbiees" to genology may have a difficult time figuring out the terms, how information if listed , and so on... this may seem so very basic to you old hands at genology. I had been searching on the internet for Hunts for about 5 months before I got hooked up with you guys.... And, I had found nothing.... but 10,000 hunt clubs and directions on how to hunt and 1,000 Hunt pages of people that I had no idea who they were. Like my cousin said who is researching Hunts the Old fashioned way without the internet.... there are so many Hunts that they are like the stones on the ground. He has been trying for YEARS traveling around many states. We find Hunts everywhere but not "OUR" Hunts. I was so delighted when I found HUNTS who are real people who knew what I was talking about. So, please take a deep breath and know that you are appreciated ! Perhaps it would help to send a basic page of instructions to be sent to the new guys when they join up. It may be worth the initial page to automatically send it to them (and/or) resend if there are problems. Faye Elaine Hightower Potter Mayo
