Nancy, I am one of those lurking and hoping about the Hunt list as I know so little. I have run across the long very impressive genealogy of the Hunt families of Westchester County, NY, but could find no relation to mine. All I really know about my Hunt ancestors is that Mary Hunt married John B. Weddle on Saturday, 20 June 1827, both of New Paltz, Ulster County, New York, by the Rev. Moses Butts. The Poughkeepsie newspapers listed her groom as John B. Waddle in error. There was a Samuel Hunt living in New Paltz but he seems to be the same age as my Mary. I have had no luck with information available or paid researchers. You appear to know so much about these families of Hunt in New York. Mary & John Weddle had a son John Nostrand Weddle born 26 March 1830 in Lloyd, Ulster County, New York. The Weddle family were coopers and owned a cooper shop in New Paltz and one in Poughkeepsie. The Nostrand as their sons middle name makes me think there may be a connection with my Hunt or Weddle line to them. The name was Van Nostrand/ Van Ostran/ Van Ostrum/ Ostrum is seen all over the Hudson valley as far back and the 1500s. Keep me in mind, please, when you are searching. My Mary Hunt was probably born about 1800-1810. Thanks, Louise R.
