I think John Irons statement covers whom Lucy Wimbish meant when she referred to James Hunt as her cousin in his Rev War pension application. If he was her brother, father or even grandfather she would have so stated. He was not a first cousin we know so she must been as John wrote " referring to someone who related and not defining their relationship." I have always considered this James as a possible grandson of Joseph Hunt because I have never researched that generation of Joseph Hunt's descendants. This James Hunt could also possible be a Hunt from Maryland. We know three Hunts from Maryland that lived close to Lucy Wimbish at some time that enlisted in the Rev War. At least my Hunt family who descend from those Maryland Hunts referred to the Hunts in Charlotte/Pittsyvania/Halifax Counties as cousins.
