Henry H. (Harrison) Hunt, son of M. (Michael) C. (Curtis) Hunt was born in Georgia, July 14, 1801. He married March 18, 1828 to Nancy Ann Harp, born, December 4, 1809, daughter of Dixon and Celia Harp. Henry received land in the 1827 "Land Lottery" and in the "Gold Lottery" in Georgia. He was an early settler in Upson County, Georgia with a large plantation and many slaves. He sold the lantation but bought all the household goods and slaves when he came to Texas in the 1850's. His two eldest children who were married, came on ahead and bought land six miles east of Douglassville, Texas. It was known as "Piney Woods" and was not far from the village of Havana. They owned about 8,000 acres on John's creek and lived thre until after the Civil War. In 1866 Henry and Nancy moved one mile south of the town of Douglassville. The Hunts were wealthy at this time, the girls had maids to dress them. They attended big balls in the country and in Jefferson. Two sons went to war and never returned, one died of measles in 1862 and the other received many honors but last report of him was in May 1864. It is not known where either are buried. Henry died March 11, 1884 and Nancy Ann died December 8, 1887. They are buried in the Hunt plot of the Douglassville cemetery. It is the oldest plot in the cemetery. Their children were: 1. Mary Ann Elizabeth (Molly), born May 29, 1829; died May 15, 1903; married Dr. M. Heldt in Thomaston, GA. Dr. Heldt was the first dictor to practice medicine in Douglassville. 2. William Henry Dixon (see below), b. Jan. 21, 1831; died May 22, 1894; married Alice H. Farr in Thomaston, GA. 3. Sarah Emiline Celia, born Aug. 15, 1835; died July 28, 1897. She did not marry. 4. Alfred Green Washington, born July 9, 1837; he was a 1st., Lt., in the C.S.A. 5. Josephine Augusta Adaline, born Mar. 13, 1840; married Thomas Douglass when the Civil War was over. He was a sonof Col. John Chappell Douglass for whom Douglassville received its name. 6. Marion Augustus LaFayette, born June 23, 1841; died June 6, 1842, Upson Co., GA. 7. Alonza Aurling Franklin, born Nov. 4, 1842; died April 16, 1862 of measles while serving in the Civil War. 8. Sardinia Ann Lucinda, born May 28,1844; married September 20, 1866, Willis J. Douglass. Willis was another son of Col. John Chappell Douglass. 9. Eugenia Livenia Antonist, born September 3, 1846; married December 18, 1866, Henry M.Connelly. 10. Erastus John Martin, born June 20, 1848; died October 17, 1893; married Nancy Green Heath. 11. Fredonia Leusyer Zenobia, born July 10, 1850; died August 25, 1948; never married. She helped to nurse her parents, her invalid sister, Sarah Emaline Celia, and helped care for her niece, Katie Hunt. 12. Oscar Eliplet Clinch, born Nov. 14, 1854; died August 1, 1868.
