1. Some Hunt families lived in the part of North Carolina, i.e. Washington County, 1778, long before Tennessee became a state in 1796. Some migrated to other TN counties later and of course to other states. In 1850 Federal Census of TN there are a number of people born before 1796 and some show 'birth place' as TN, although wills, marriages, taxes, court minutes, prove family origins in NC before 1796. 2. Sadly, there are only a scattered few Censuses for TN before 1830. About 22 counties are missing for 1820. And who said our research would be easy! Bill
