    1. Re: [HUNT-L] Thomas HUNT, b.Abt.1720--d.1791 Franklin Co. NC
    2. Sandy, thanks very much for the note in response to my Thomas HUNT query renewal. Felicia GOURDIN wrote to me as well. I am the Jerry A. HUNT that you quote in the note, just living at a new address in Austin, and STILL searching for the origin of earliest known HUNT ancestor. But, your note did bring some questions to me. First, I do not know the writings of "Andrea" that you use as reference (Below "See Pg. 38 Andrea" and "Andrea II Pgs. 12, 13, and 38"). Second, I am especially curious about the record of a deed from a Thomas HUNT and "Susannah", his wife, both of Bute Co. NC, to Josiah ELY, (Her DOWER?)--250a, a grant to Thomas HUNT 17 Feb 1750--deed dated 05 Nov 1771, Warren Co. NC. I have, in the past, thought this referred to the "other" Thomas HUNT (up the River) with a wife named Susannah. Perhaps this is improper thinking. But, the last record (I think) that shows my Thomas HUNT's wife as named Elizabeth is one where she and Thomas HUNT sell 300a to a Thomas FLOYD, dated 25 Oct 1768, but in Warren Co. NC DB 2 Pg. 255. I guess my Thomas HUNT could have had a new wife by 1771--he should have been about 50 years old by then. Do you (or others) possibly have more data that points to a union of a Thomas HUNT and a Susannah (Unknown)? Third, I do not have a copy of a deed by Thomas HUNT dated 8 Feb 1789 that names children and some grandchildren. Do you have the details on this? Fourth, insofar as I currently know, the only unidentified child of my Thomas HUNT and (presumably) his wife Elizabeth is the daughter who married Drury MASSEY. For a time there was some question about his son John HUNT, but I think the greatest problem with him is that we do not yet know just what became of him and his probable family. Again, I do appreciate the responses from the HUNT searchers on this list--I will try to be more diligent in my searching, and in my responses. Sandy, I will send this direct to you, but copy the LIST, so you will get two copies, I suppose.
