The Mormon site is a major proof that you must take information with the proverbial grain of salt. The Mormon records provide an excellent starting point, but as you will have probably noticed, they advise you not to take their information as gospel. They have tons of data provided to them & no way to verify it. Much of what they have is also based on oral family history (and some on outright wishful thinking), & I have found errors in some of it. I have also found errors in my own family's oral history. As much as I hate it, I still have a lot of proving to do before I have the genealogy I would like (i.e.. - accurate). So far I do love their site, but will not accept any of it as fact.
