David1 Hunt was born in Preble County, Ohio, United States February 17, 1800. David died March 1, 1859 in Bowling Green, Clay County, Indiana, United States, at 59 years of age. He married Mary in Preble County, Ohio, United States, BEF 1822. Mary was born August 19, 1798. Mary died ABT 20 JAN 1866 in Bowling Green, Clay County, Indiana, United States, at approximately 67 years of age. "My Grandfather (JOHN F. HUNT) came from Eaton, Preble County, Ohio. I remember my Grandfather saying his family hailed from New Jersey and called himself a Jersey Irishman." "There are two Granddaughters and a Grandson of ELIZABETH and WILLIAM CAMPBELL now living in Bowling Green, that I know quite well. They know where the graves of DAVID and MARY HUNT are located. I can remember my Grandfather made a trip down there from Dana, and had stones erected on their graves. He drove down in a horse and buggy. The cemetery is a small obsolete one in a corner of a field near Bowling Green." "JOHN F. HUNT came to Vermillion County to work on a canal being built along the Wabash and as I remember the story, he liked the country so well he talked the rest of his family into coming. By the time they came the canal work was farther along and they settled in Owen County near Bowling Green." The Wabash and Erie Canal was started in 1837 in Owen County. Work stopped in 1939 and started again in 1945. The Canal was completed in 1849. "I believe that WILLIAM CAMPBELL married two sisters of my Father (NATHAN DIXON HUNT)." David Hunt and Mary had the following children: 2 i. Elizabeth2 Hunt was born in Preble County, Ohio, United States February 14, 1822. Elizabeth died AFT 1855 in Owen County, Indiana, United States. She married William Campbell in Preble County, Ohio, United States, BEF 1855. William was born in Preble County, Ohio, United States. William died AFT 1855 in Owen County, Indiana, United States. 3 ii. Maryann Hunt was born in Preble County, Ohio, United States June 6, 1825. Maryann died February 7, 1881 at 55 years of age. + 4 iii. Nathan Dixon Hunt Dr. was born June 11, 1827. 5 iv. Richard Hunt was born in Preble County, Ohio, United States August 4, 1829. + 6 v. John F. Hunt was born July 3, 1832. 7 vi. Hannah Hunt was born in Preble County, Ohio, United States September 9, 1834. Hannah died October 5, 1851 at 17 years of age. 8 vii. Dunham Hunt was born in Preble County, Ohio, United States September 2, 1838.
