Helps wonderfully. Thank you very much. It is starting to look like there were at least 4 separate Hunt groups in Cortland Co, if not more. Japhet Hunt from Columbia Co. NY (arrived before 1800 census) Samuel D. Hunt from Broome Co. NY (arrived in Cortland in abt 1853) Asa Hunt from CT (arrived in 1827) Simeon Hunt from RI/Mass - Arrived circa 1820. There is also a Dorus Hunt who arrived late, but I suspect he is connected to Asa. They have a lot of the same lines in common. In the 1870 census, Dorus was 33, so he was born circa 1837. That could mean he is 1 gen down from Asa, but I have all of Asa's children documented. He might be a nephew or something. I suspect that Dorus is from the Washington Co. NY area, since a Dorus Hunt married a Jane Thornton there during the 1860's and Thornton's appear in every other line of my genealogy. Thanks again.
