Hi Donna, I knew of one Gaspe area Hunt family - I had been under the impression they were Irish so hadn't followed up closely. I don't know if there is a connection or not. Do you know where they came from? Do you have the children's names? For my lot, Ambrose Hunt's sons were named Henry, Peter, Cornell, John - The name Cornell I believe was from Sarah Wiltse's family. While it doesn't seem to have been a hard rule, mine did seem to honour family members when naming children. Hi Anna John Hunt was born about 1730-1940 his family was Thomas ,Lucy,William,Johm.Sarah, and Mary the name William follows the family right up to my brother. Finding Canadian Hunt Familys is difficult most information is USA we believe they came from England may or maynot have been in the states for shot time lived in the Malbaie Gaspe area from 1700's to late 1800's then homesteaded in Sashatchewan.
