Hi all. I was a member here long, long ago! It doesn't seem half as busy as it was then! My Hunt line is focussed in Somerset, Uk. I have gotten to Thomas HUNT, born 1807 Bridgwater, married Mary ROGERS Dec 5th 1830 I link to the line through Thomas/Mary's son, John, born 1852 in Pawlett. I haven't been able to spend the necessary time researching this for a while, hence I haven't progressed at all on this line for many years now!
Hello I am very interested in your Hunt line from Bridgwater, Somerset. My Grandmother was a de Vere Hunt. Our Hunt line goes to Ireland and then back to Gosfield, Essex. I shall start with Henry Hunt who married Jane de Vere in Gosfield, Essex in 1573. They had a daughter Dorothea/Dorothy Hunt who married Sir Francis Kingsmill, from Sidmonton, Hampshire, he fought in Ireland, and had land at Ballybeg, Co.Cork. I have been unable to find their marriage, but he is mentioned in Henry's Will, as being the husband of their daughter Dorothea/Dorothy. Francis Kingsmill died in 1620, and is buried at St. Mary's, Bridgwater, Somerset. It states on his monument that he came from Ballybeg, Co. Cork. His son Henry is also buried there died 1621, and another son also named Francis died 1640, is also buried with the father. I have looked for them having property at Bridgwater, but I have been told they did not have any, and they probably lived at the castle, if that was so, why would it say he came from Ballybeg, Co. Cork. I should also note at this time that his wife Dorothea/Dorothy isn't buried with him. As a point of note, Francis Kingsmill's aunt married a Pawlett, hence the name of the town. Now let us get back to Henry Hunt, he was the eldest of eleven children, and you guessed it, he had a brother Thomas, who would have been born about mid 1500's this Thomas married, (don't know who) had a son named William. Henry & Thomas's father's name was William. I know this is probably too far back, for you but I would like you to keep this information in mind, as their may be a connection. Looking forward to hearing what you have to say. Best Wishes Roslyn Dunning Australia
