    1. [HUNT] ROLL CALL
    2. Gordon Bonnet
    3. My dead end, of 30 years' standing, is Daniel Hunt, b. ca. 1750 in New Jersey, d. 1822 in Greene Co. PA. I have his will, and he names sons John and William, a daughter Alle, and a grandson (by an unnamed daughter) Enoch Thompson. Daniel's wife was Elizabeth ___ and _may_ have been Elizabeth Fonner or Elizabeth DeWees. Despite years of research, this Daniel has proven impossible to trace. There is some possibility that he might be related to either the Hunts of the Ralph Hunt line (there were several Daniels in that line, although none who seem to be candidates), or related to the Daniel Hunt who m. Catlyntje ___ and had children baptized in the Dutch Reformed Church of Harlingen, Montgomery Twp., Somerset Co., NJ. I thought that he was the Daniel Hunt (Jr.) of this couple who was baptized on 6 Mar 1756, especially when I found that this Daniel _did_ marry a woman named Elizabeth; however, more recent information indicates that this Daniel and his wife died in Mercer Co. NJ. It's possible that "my" Daniel could have been a nephew or other relative of the elder Daniel above (m. Catlyntje) -- but that is pure speculation at this point. Can anyone help? cheers, Gordon Bonnet Trumansburg NY

    3. Researching ancestors/descendants John Hunt. First appears in Granville County, North Carolina, Epping Forest Tax District rolls, in 1764. (present-day Kittrell, Vance County, NC) d. before 1796. m. Hannah Park (d. 1805) Sons Jonathan b. abt 1770, Samuel b. abt 1768, James b. abt 1774. Daughters Sarah (m. Claiborne Finch), Mary (m. Blanton Cook). I descend from Jonathan > Moses Park > Moses J. > William > Paul A., all North Carolina. Some sources have John as being of the Henry Hunt family, but it is not the right area of Granville County. We don't know where John came from. 1. Re: [HUNT] ROLL CALL John and Elizabeth Tomlin Hunt
    2. Just wanted to let the list know that we have several researchers working on this family and have quite a lot of information. However, we would welcome more of each. We especially would like to hear from descendants of the daughters. John and Elizabeth Tomlin Hunt -born c. 1749 and c. 1750 respectively in London- came to East Haven, Connecticut around the time of the Revolution. All children were born in Connecticut. Children were: Frederick William b. 1772, John B.1775,Grace b.1776, Anna Maria b.1777, Sarah b.1779, Emily B. 1780, William Henry b. 1782, Elizabeth b. 1783, James Richard b. 1785, Woodward Hervey b. 1787, Charles Augustus b.1789, Sarah b. 1790 and Samuel Bradley Horatius b.1793. William Henry moved to Athens, Georgia and had a large family. Some descendants later came to Texas and Arkansas after the Civil War. Lucinda Hunt, sister to Sarah, was born 1810 in TN and parents born VA per 1880 Lawrence County, MO census. Lucinda Hunt received two letters written 1852 and 1853 from Mary C. Hunt of Franklin County, TN. "Father died Nov. 19, 1852, and sister lives in our yard..has 4 boys and 4 girls. Catherine Colyer died Oct 25, 1852 and her son George Thompson Colyer, died in Mexico and was brought to Winchester and buried. Hunt 1819-1866 was the daughter of Henry Hunt c 1780-1852, clergyman, and Darcas Giles c 1779- aft 1860. Mary had two sisters, Lucinda b. c 1800 and Sarah Elizabeth c 1807 m. Benj. South c 1828. Sherrill 1762-c 1840 was youngest of 9 children of Samuel Sherrill, a much researched family. G.D.’s sister, Catherine, ‘bonny Kate’ m. John Sevier, Sr., early governor of the state of Franklin and of Tennessee. Elizabeth Hunt b c 1769 was also a member of much researched family. Many believe she was one of ‘the 14’ siblings. Elizabeth, widow of John Morgan who was killed by Indians, m. 2nd G.D. Sherrill c 1793. Aunt Navey, mentioned in letter, may be Eliza Manerva (Sherrill) South c 1811. Mary’s second letter mention uncle, Nathaniel with wife Elizabeth and their children: Thomas, Henry, Clarrisa and Louisa. Also, mentions Aunt Nancy White in Cherokee County, Alabama. Nathaniel Hunt was sheriff of Franklin County, Tennessee. In addition to those mentioned, there were two other children per the census of 1840. I solicit help; encourage additions and corrections to the above. Bill Landers <BR><BR><BR>**************************************<BR> AOL now offers free email to everyone. 2. Joanne Potanovic
    3. Mary V. Hunt, born about 1871. The "V" may stand for the name "Viddler", but there's no other information on this possibility, just the memory of a couple of comments made in passing over 30 years ago about that being a family name. I have been told that as per the 1920 Census, she was living with her husband, Russell, in Hempstead, Nassau, New York with his wife and daughter (& son, too?) . The census also says that she was born in NY as were her father and her mother - we can neither prove nor disprove this. I believe she died somewhere around 1930 -- she was a widow at the time. Mary & Russell had 1 son and 2 daughters. Information on her husband Russell's family is known, but we know nothing about Mary V. Hunt or her family. Thank you. Joanne - -

    3. I'm not having any luck figuring out where my ancestor, Hibbard/Hibbart Hunt came to be one of the first of two "white" men to settle on Campobello Island, just across the inlet from Lubec, ME, or why he went there. Could he have been a Lloyalist who fled "the US" during the Revolutionary War? Could he have been a second or third son who wasn't going to inherit the farm? Surely, someone out there knows more than I do, and I would appreciate any clues, hints, or guesses. Thanks, Steve Gabany Our house is for sale: http://isu.indstate.edu/gabanys/houseforsale.html

    1. Re: [HUNT] Thomas Hunt
    2. I see he's in Monroe Co, TN in 1850 and says his birthplace is GA vice the TN he gives in later years. He has a number of Hunts next door as well -- he is 21 & recently married, Lewis Hunt age 39, b. GA is on one side, and William Hunt age 22 is on the other. A few houses dows is Thornton Hunt, age 33, who says he is born in SC. There are 43 Hunts in Monroe Co GA in 1850. William, b1798, VA, William 1794, SC -- it looks like there are three groups -- VA, SC and GA. I can't tell just from this simply view whether they are separate lines, whether 2 of 3 are common, or even all 3 common -- you would probably need to look at the county records in Monroe Co, TN through deed & will to figure that out. However, I don't think these link to the Smith / Wilson Co, TN Hunts -- of which, BTW, there are multiple, apparently unrelated Hunt lines there also. 1. Re: [HUNT] Thomas Hunt
    2. Is this the Jesse Hunt who came from Nash / Franklin Co NC to Wilson / Smith Co TN -- and off the Henry Hunt line in that county, which appears to go back into VA -- or is this a different Jesse Hunt? 3. I wonder if any of these Hunts or any others out there are related to our Hunts in Bradley Co TN within less than half a mile from Polk Co line (our relatives live in both due to the family area covering the county lines), and also McMinn Co is nearby. We've only been able to go back so as far as James Hunt, our GG Grandfather, & his wife Sophfina Jane (also known as "Suffina, Sylvina , or Jane") Lawson Hunt. Their son, George Washington Hunt, my G-Grandfather, and his wife Texanna "Texaner" Callahan Hunt was his wife. Their daughter, Leola Hunt Smith who m. James Harrison Smith, was my grandmother and grandfather. The Smiths, Hunts, and Callahans all live within throwing distance of one another and still are there to this day. Below is the url for the our Hunt line as well as the main genealogy webpage: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~fritzzy/hunt.htm http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~fritzzy/ -----Original Message----- >From: ashva@comcast.net >Sent: Mar 4, 2007 6:34 PM >To: fgourdin@mindspring.com, hunt@rootsweb.com, hunt@rootsweb.com >Subject: Re: [HUNT] Thomas Hunt > >I see he's in Monroe Co, TN in 1850 and says his birthplace is GA vice the TN he gives in later years. He has a number of Hunts next door as well -- he is 21 & recently married, Lewis Hunt age 39, b. GA is on one side, and William Hunt age 22 is on the other. A few houses dows is Thornton Hunt, age 33, who says he is born in SC.
