    1. [HUNT-L] The Rev. William "Buckey" Hunt Book
    2. The book begins with an explanation of the 14 Hunt siblings born between 1755 and 1776 whose parents are unknown to this day. It is felt, but undocumented, that these siblings were born in Bedford Co., Va. The book gives "some information" on the individual siblings and their children. However, the focus of the book is on William Hunt, Sr., born 1763, (also one of the 14), and his children, with the "major" emphasis on William Hunt Sr.'s son, The Rev. William "Bucky" Hunt (1793-1868) and his descendants in Monroe Co., Tn., Tx, NC, and many other states. The book contains 549 pages and 250 photographs, and is completely indexed. Only 500 printed. Contact: Mrs. Ruby Tidwell Hranicky, 2706 Bretshire Dr., Corpus Christi, Tx 78414. Mrs. Hranicky researched this line for many years. She is not on line.

    1. [HUNT-L] Thomas Hunt b. 1580
    2. Diane Ryder
    3. Hello! I am new to this list, and just discovered that my ancestor was Thomas Hunt, b. England 1580. He was a ship's captain who came to America around 1600, apparently a trading vessel (fur trade?). He had land in what is now Long Island, NY. His wife was Cecily Paisley. From what I can tell, he allegedly was the man who masterminded the kidnapping of "Squanto" in the legend. My question is: does anyone know of any books on this Hunt line? And is anyone else connected to this line? I also have HUNTs on my husband's side, from County Sligo, Ireland. Would appreciate hearing from anyone searching Hunts from that area too. Thanks! Diane in OH

Just in case - my search centers on HERBERT VINCENT HUNT, b 1866 in Brunswick Maine, married 1890 Lowell MASS, died 1939 Peabody Mass -- his father (said to be Swiss) ROBERT U. 1. [HUNT-L] LIST RULES --All Members
    2. Doug Hunt
    3. All List Members, It's important for you to remember that this list is "un-moderated". This means that the list owner does not review and approve messages before posting to the list. There are some obvious advantages to this. The list becomes a FREE forum for discussion and is not subject to the opinions, politics, philosophies or personal preferences of an "owner". It also makes list ownership a manageable task. The disadvantage is that we, as list members, must moderate the activity on the list. We must be careful that our discussions are on topic; that we move private conversations to our private email addresses; that we refrain from "flaming" or undue criticism; that we work together in an atmosphere of helpfulness and with patience. I've found, for the most part, that the List is fully capable of policing it's own ranks, and within a short period of time is able to remedy most altercations. So, please be patient and see if things don't get back to "normal" on their own. And If you have a concern, please write me privately. Thanks. Oh, the most important rule...HAVE FUN! 1. [HUNT-L] Willing to Teach
    2. Hello fellow Hunt researchers. I am willing to help anyone with their genealogy. I know and teach genealogy. I have been a genealogist since the age of 14 years old. I was a genealogist before computers came along and I have been one since they came along. I, for one, am glad to help in any way I can to teach our newbies how to research, whether it be in the library or on computer. My help comes from my heart as a Hunt researcher and fellow genealogist. Anything I can do to help anyone please let me know. I have the patience of Job and the wisdom of Solomon (just kidding). I am ready and willing to help. Give me a hollar. Your fellow Hunt researcher. P. S. My help is given freely. Have a great day. Let's get on with our research of the Hunt family and other allied families. Danny A. McBee.

    3. Sandy: I, too, am appreciative of all the hours spent by researchers in their attempts to connect families. Do you think that all of the persons who are new to computer generated genealogy are ignorant by choice. I recognize, and admit to, my ignorance. Don't suggest finding help locally. When one resides in Small Town, USA, that type of help is virtually nonexistent. Maybe you, in your great wealth of knowledge, could suggest literature (on-line or otherwise) that would help those of us who have not yet reached your level of expertise. Thanks to the HUNT list I have become acquainted with others who are actively researching the same line. They have been patient and most willing to share information with me. I thought your comments about a certain Ms. Gheesling (?) and her research were inappropriate. And then comes your GENEALOGY 102! I am really curious about your particular Hunt line. I think you may be very closely related to some of the members of my husband's line. There are some b_t_ _ ol _ _ in his family, too. Chill! 1. [HUNT-L] Back to research, please?
    2. Come on guys, it's getting kind of nasty. Let's just get back to research on this HUNT line. Just remember that we all had to start somewhere and learn our way around. Some are just beginning genealogy and computer so let's be patient and help them just like others helped us learn the ropes. Thanks, Becky

    3. Sandy Thank you and the other genealogist working on the HUNT line. Most people have no idea the hours spent on doing research to find the answers that are need for other people and you don't get paid for it. I really appericated the work you all have done. I know the hours spent on research to connect one family to another. When Prodigy first start I joined and had a ball helping other people who were online most of those people didn't have access to books and material. They had no idea how to research. Today you have the same problems. They don't know how to research, no access to material and to top it off don't know how to use a computer. All they know is push the enter button. I am glad you all are so kind to offer to help them and understand. Thank you, Thank you. I was the researcher for our local Society until about two months ago. when I was unable to go to the library. Now I am feeling better and I might decided to do it again. We get a lot of letters from people who don't know or realize that there family history is not at your finger tips. Many people walk into the Family History Center in our area and want their family and get huffy when told they have to do the research. Please keep up the great work all of you are doing. It is apperciated by many of us. 1. [HUNT-L] GENEALOGY 102
    2. SANFORD B HUNT
    3. One of the primary requisites of doing genealogy by computer is that you know how to run a computer and KNOW your genealogy program. If you don't know what a GEDCOM is you don't know enough to do genealogy by computer. If you don't know what you are doing please tell us. Then we will be able to help. Hours are spent on research by all of us but when the result is determined and you can't read the result because you forgot to tell us you are using a MAC or you don't know how to handle a GEDCOM or have some other requirements, it is a very disheartening to me.. We try so very hard to get answers with documentation for you-spend hours on your requests and try to send you the answers. We WANT to help and get you connected with your relatives but if you can't run a computer please seek some help locally. If that doesn't work ask us to help on your basic computer operation. We don't mind a bit even if its name isn't HUINT. 3. To all of you on the Hunt list, I apologize for my last post just send in error that carried a subject line of "Genealogy/Web site software." The message was intended to be private e-mail, but I forgot to change the To: address when I replied. I certainly did not intend to bore all of you with my personal software opinions. No flames please. Don Nutt Adrian, MI.
