    1. [HUNT-L] 1810 VA Census for Hunts
    2. MR WAYNE HUNT
    3. For all those interested in the 1810 VA Census for Hunts I will put it together in a presentable format and send it all that have expressed an interest. I am not exactly sure how to post it in this forum. The file may be too large. Putting it in the Hunt Document Archives may be the best solution. Due to a very heavy workload it will be about 10 days or so before I have it ready. I will let you know. Susan Wilson asked about the missing HUNTs for that year. I am unaware of a book containing the lost counties. Tell me where to find it and I will be glad any Hunts from it to this list. I do not know how many have been accounted for. I was just asking the question. For those interested I do have lists in spreadsheet format for the HUNTs listed on the 1830 Census for, KY, TN, and VA. I use Quattro but can write in Lotus format. With a little work I can probably write it in Excel. If anybody wants a copy let me know. Just specify electronic in spreadsheet format or hardcopy. How many can be accounted for I do not know, but some can definitely be accounted for. Wayne Hunt in Phoenix

    3. Hi everyone: I am interested in any Hunts in VA during this period. My husbands gggrandfater was born in VA, his name John Hamilton Hunt, don't know what county but in 1813 had a son named John Finley Hunt born in Greene County, Finley Township, state unknown. I haven't researched the 1810 VA census because I just found oout about this man's middle name and birth state. Anything I find I will submit. 3. Don't give up! I recently was "found" by a cousin I didn't know I had! Her biological dad is my first cousin. She had been looking for that half of her heritage for over 20 years. Thanks to the internet, and a mutual distant relative, we found each other. I was able to send her the family tree, copies of old photos of her great-great grandparents, family recordings (they were fairly well known country singers, and made a recently discovered informal jam session record in 1944), and a few trinkets that had been her great-grandmother's. So, after all her diligence, she now knows about her paternal side, and I have a new cousin and friend! Here's another true story. Two people I know had a child when they were teenagers, and gave him up for adoption. This couple later married, had several children, and began a search for their first child. Unknown to them, he was also trying to find them. It took them years to get through all the red tape, but they finally found each other, and the young man was able to re-join the family of his parents, brothers, and sisters. So never give up, but also remember, your grandfather may have a very good reason not to want anyone to make a connection. In my new cousin's case, her father is not a good person. She is much better off without him in her life. But that doesn't stop US from having a close relationship! Just prepare yourself for the bad side of it as well as the good. Sometimes the ending isn't a happy one. Good luck, and God Bless You. I hope you find her, and it works out well for all of you. Diane in OH

    1. [HUNT-L] Searching for long lost half-sister
    2. Jannie and Andrew Baker
    3. Hi, I'm new to the list and was hoping that someone here might have some advice or information to offer me. My father has just recently discovered that he has a half-sister that he never knew about and we would very much like to try and find her. I'm ashamed to say that my Grandfather has no interest in seeing his daughter and has not been very helpful in giving us what little information he might have. (He's only seen her two times in her life.) Here's what we do know. She was born in Atlanta or the surrounding area some time in 1932. We think her name might have been Mickey (could be spelled Mickie or some other variation - might even be a nickname for Michelle) but we're not sure. Her parents were Dock Hunt and Jennie Blalock Hunt. They were teenagers who married when it was discovered she was pregnant. Jennie's parents then took her away to have the baby and then had her file for divorce or anullment. The state of Georgia won't give us her birth certificate without my Grandfather's permission and Grandpa isn't going to give that, so I'm not sure how to go about discovering the name of my Dad's half-sister, much less finding her now. If anybody has some experience with this type of thing, your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Jannie

    3. Do you know how many HUNTs are missing from the 1810 VA census? There are a number of counties for which the census has been lost? There is an "1810 census supplement" for those missing counties. 3. I just found this site to search for listing of manuscripts, bible records, letters, etc, held all over the place. It tells you about them & where they are at. http://lcweb.loc.gov/z3950/rlinamc.html RLIN AMC File Easy Search Form (word list) Not all of the hits are Genealogy related, but hope you get lucky ! Example of one the hits I got for Hunt: Author: Hunt, Jesse M., 1841-1929. Title: Jesse M. Hunt family papers, 1821-1983 (bulk 1889-1910). Description: .5 linear ft. Notes: Jesse M. Hunt (1841-1929), was a successful Jones County (Ga.) farmer, originator of the peach industry in the county and the inventor of several patented harness modifications. He married Mary E. Carver (1838-1901) in 1860. After the death of his first wife, he married Louise Gibson. The collection consists of papers of Jesse M. Hunt and the Hunt family of Jones County, Georgia from 1821-1983. The papers contain correspondence (1864, 1889-1902), clippings, land deeds and indentures, patent-related files of Francis M. Hunt, and photographs. The correspondence contains personal letters between family members and friends as well as letters pertaining to claims by Hunt for losses during the Civil War. 1. [HUNT-L] Abraham Hunt Ohio>Maine>Ohio again
    2. Hi, I am searching for information on Abraham Hunt born abt. 1775. Family history says he had sons named: Frank, Eli (Elijah?) and Job. I know Job Hunt to be correct, I descend from him. Job Hunt was born abt. 1808 in Ohio. The story is, Abraham took his family to Maine about 1812 to open a fish cannery. After 6 years he returned to Ohio. Has anyone come across this Abraham Hunt in their searches? I came across this mention of an Abraham Hunt on the Miami Valley Ohio Genealogical Index Hunt, Abraham |M |1804 |Marr | | |Gee, Elizabeth |Bu Hunt, Abraham |fc |1820 |Cen | |046 |Madison Twp |Bu Does anyone know who this Abraham is? The dates seem to match, since Job was born in 1808 and then they come back to Ohio in time for the 1820 census. Job Hunt married Rosanna Stone in Darke County, Ohio in 1835. What books should I be looking at to find out information on the fish cannery? Cheryl Kirkpatrick researching Hunt, Sluder, Swisher kickpacket@aol.com

(no date) Courtney Tompkins sent me many records on the early William HUNT's of VA. It is easy to get them confused with out in depth research. Myra On Wed, 11 Nov 1998, A. 3. Tamara & Allen Have you wtitten to the county in IL where your ggg grandfather John Franklin HUNT died for a death certficate? The state of IL has records for deaths starts about 1916 if died after that date you can write to the state. On the death certificate if it is complete it will probable tell you where he was born. Do you have a library near you where you can do research? You need to look at the 1920,1910,1900, 1880,1870,1860,1850 US census films. You also need to check the soundex records first (index) for your HUNT family. But all that I have on him is born in 1848 and married Delilah Catherine Lewis and that the had and raised there family in Illinois. I don't know where he was born or who his parents were or if he had any brothers or sisters. I guess that leaves me batting a million uh?
