Does anybody have an complete list of his siblings and desc? His will mentions 3 dau - Lydia Chapman, Susannah Reed and Mary Hunt - and 6 sons - John Jr, Soloman/Salmon, William, David, Jereathemal and Timothy. According to FTM chart vol 2, num 1552, he was married twice, once to Lydia Bullock who died in 1790 and then again in 1817. That's a lot of years span. My questions are 1. Did he have a brother or other relative known as Seneca Hunt? They are both in Onondaga Co. in 1810 census. 2. Does anybody know Susannah's husband's name? 3. Jehiel Hall witnessed the will. Is there a documented connection between Hunts and Halls? Vicki Hall Titus
This is my first posting to this list. I am looking for descendants of Thomas HUNT. The following are notes that I have had handed down to me. "Thomas HUNT (Mary HUNT BURKE'S grandfather) came to Ballinamore as a child from Manion; married a Mary QUINN; home on Ormsby estate. Karindine....close to Ballinamore.; landlord was a "Black Anthony" Ormsby, a former drummer in Cromwell's army; he was mean and harsh, made his tenants work for nothing; chased them to the hills if they tried to put new panes of glass in the windows. Later, Ormsby descendents came from Sligo; they were nice family; came from Germany; the old lady looked like Queen Victoria; the boys were killed in 1914, none of the girls married; there was a third son in Canada who came back about time Aunt Margaret married; he didn't know about his uncle Black Anthony; he used to buy meat from the Ruanne's store and his daughter played with Margaret; he felt badly about his mean uncle; taxes were so high he sold the estate; now belongs to the St. John of God nursing order. When John HUNT, son of Thomas HUNT and father of Mary Josef HUNT BURKE left the family home at Kiltimagh, Co. Mayo in the 1840's, the three month sailing boat trip to the New World was long and arduous. He became sick aboard ship and was nursed back to health by a young Irish friend, Miss Bridget DALY. He married her soon after arriving in America, but fearing his family's reaction to thsi hasty move, did not write to them for many years. They feared him dead, and mourned for him for seven years. However, a Mr. O'Reagan, who knew John in Mayo, saw him in America and told him to write to his family for they had been mourning him....so at last, John wrote home and told his family about his new life in America. Mary Josef HUNT was b. 6 April 1856 in Barlow, Ohio. She married Thomas BURKE 3 June 1873, St. Thomas Church, Winona, MN. This is my great grandmother and grandfather. Any connections? We have the WILL of EDWARD HUNT son of Edward and Sarah Betts Hunt-town book Queens LI NY (NYGER 64:32). His wifes name is unknown but she was certainly not the wife Elizabeth daughter of Jonathan and Hannah Hazzard as reported in WYMAN. and corrected in TAG 26 pages 1-7. Throughout the will the name is spelled ANGLICA bapt. 13 Sep 1715 in Hopewell NJ married before 1757, Ebenezer Earle. There is no further record of the EARLES in any HUNT records that we have. Sandy Hunt in Lubbock.
At the risk of repeating something already said: I find only Lucretia Higgins who married OBED HUNT on Oct 12 1761. they had a son Ebenezer. There may have been other children such as LUCRETIA HUNT but I have no record. Obed Hunt later married Electa Stevens June 21, 1795. NFI SAndy hunt in Lubbock
Hello Rooters, I was very intrigued with Courtney's post on the above subject. I was particularly interested by the will of Richard HUNT (noted as page 14). In it he lists brothers John and William; sons Josia, Nathaniel and Richard; and nephew Ralph. These names are used over and over again in the HUNT line of Ralph HUNT, of York Co., VA, my immigrant ancestor. Now, I know that another Ralph HUNT was the founder of a long and prominent line of HUNTs in New England. I am not very familiar with this line, so I cannot comment much on the reuse of those names. I did notice, however, that the will made mention of "To Ralph Hunt my brother Williams son (pounds) 50, Item to New England........" What I wanted to do was ask for the speculations of the experts on this list, ie.. Sandy, Felicia, Courtney and Clara as to the probabilities that this Richard HUNT was related to either of the immigrant Ralph HUNTs who founded these two important Hunt lines. Respectfully, M. Dean Hunt Louisville, KY
This line starts with William. Have nothing before that. As far as Lockey goes, she is the end of the line but her siblings take up several pages..It is all on the WEBSITE. Thanks everyone for trying to help me establish if the Moses Hunt I was inquiring about belonged to my line. It turned out he didn't, I am sorry to say. Now I have left to work with: My grandfather, Russell George Chandler m 5 Mar 1868 Laura Isabel Leonard in St. Johns, Clinton County, MI. The witnesses on the marriage certificate are Seth Hunt b 27 June 1829 Whitehall, Washington Co, NY and his wife Amelia Conn Hunt b 28 Sept 1828 in Moriah, Essex Co. NY. Seth's obituary gives his father's name as Seth Hunt born near Mt Tom, MA and the MI death record shows his mother as Abigail Brooks. He had brothers Smith Austin b 10 Jan 1840 in Whitehall, NY and Alonzo, George, Wesley, William and John that I know of. They moved to St. Johns, MI in 1857 according to the Clinton County Pioneer Book. Oddly enough there is a record of Smith living with James Miller in Fairhaven, Rutland Co. VT in 1850. I have not checked the census for this. Smith was in the Civil War and some of this information is gleaned from his pension application. Alonzo, Seth, Smith, and George are all in the 1870 St. Johns, MI census. There has to be some connection with my great-grandmother Esther F. Hunt born 26 Feb 1818. If there is any way to tie this information with some you have or if you could tell me where to look next I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance. Iris Westwood

Moses Hunt, with wife Ruth Dodge, was a Rev. War soldier of the New Hampshire Continental line. His name is listed in the D.A.R. patriot books and the line can be had by writing to the D.A.R. library in Washington, D.C.
