    3. With New Year celebrations and everything else I managed to loose a few days somewhere, so apologize that I am only now catching up on my email. I suspect some of the wills mentioned my be connected with my lot. Certainly one of the witnesses Henry Hunt was probably an ancestor of mine. If its any help to anyone... William Hunt married Ellen Cracherode, and had a son:- Henry of Gosfield, Essex, who married Jane de Vere 2nd April 1573 and had the following 6 children; William Edward Henry Dorothy Agnes John married Ruth Saunders in 1612 at Castle Hedingham and ended up in Ireland. The names William, Ellen, Dorothy and John being mentioned in the wills could mean a connection somewhere. Cheers, Peter in Ireland.

    3. Could someone help me determine the parents of Emira Hunt, born about 1808 in the Brunswick, ME area? She married John Andrew Maxim in Concord Plt. June 1832 and lived in the Bingham/Moscow area of Maine. She died a widow 30 Dec, 1896 in Moscow, buried in Bingham. Her death certificate gives mother as "Elizabeth" and no father listed. Checking daughters' certificates, mother listed as being born in Bowdoinham, Topsham and Brunswick. One family member says her father was Reuben, but I have no confirmation of that. Any help would me greatly appreciated! Marian Tobey Perkins mperk@hitter.net

    1. [HUNT-L] John and Eli Milton Hunt
    2. I am seeking information regarding my 4G grandfather, John Hunt and his son (my 3G grandfather) Eli Milton Hunt. The information I have in hand is sketchy at the best - it source is from a biographical form that the Arkansas Historical Commission put out in 1911 for veterans of the Civil War. On his form Clement Montgomery Hunt stated that his father Eli Milton Hunt was born in Coweta County, Georgia and that his grandfather's name was John. However, C.M. Hunt did not fill out the blanks for John's birth date or birth place. Working back from the date of the birth of Eli's first child, I conclude that John may have been born circa 1780 and Eli around 1813. I do have the name of Eli's wife and four children if this jogs anyone's memory. All information sincerely appreciated. Charles D. Hunt

    3. Marilyn- Most interesting comments by the woman who discovered that will and wrote about it in 1929..Her study of Col. Jonathan was not deep enough to bring out the details but more of a fictional nature... It is all covered on pages 25 and 26 of the Col . Jonathan MS by Mitchell Hunt who researched it as late as 1996. Mitchell says, "there is no evidence that Col. Jonathan participated as a soldier during the Rev. War. By testimony of his son Daniel (who did serve in the War) most of the property except the house on Jonathan's farm was destroyed by the army of Cornwallis when it passed through that area on 6 Feb 1781, and Jonathan was taken prisoner but was soon released because he was old and infirm and Cornwallis didn't want to have his march burdened with an old prisoner. Son Daniel obtained release from his army service to look after his aged father who was near the end of his long career and died at his farm on Cedar Creek 5 Sept 1782, "in the 67th year of his age" per his gravestone in the Eaton Baptist Church Cemetery at Cana which was still standing and legible in 1951 and more recently checked in 1984. " In anticipation of this death, on June 18 1782 he wrote his will as you have outlined it in your message. Without going into detail--he had two wives before Margaret. He had 19 children and many grandchildren. It is all layed out very nicely in the Col. Jonathan Manuscript. His lineage goes back to Ralph of Long Island as you said. The entire family is outlined on the WEBSITE. I can provide you with whatever you need. Sandy in Lubbock

    2. Sandy and Group, Thanks so much for responding to my original question. With all the common use of the names, Ralph, John, Richard, etal., it is confusing to say the least. I do wish to point out that my information, based mostly on the F & C file, shows that the immigrant Ralph Hunt of New Pasquoson Parish, York Co., VA, at age 22 transported to Virginia, under authority of a certificate issued by the minister of Gravesend, on board the "Primrose" 27 July 1635. Of course, all the above is subject to error. M. Dean Hunt Louisville, KY
