    3. Does anyone know anything about Jane Benson married to Thomas Hunt in 1836 in England? I'm grasping at straws on this one - as I know I have a Hunt married to a Benson - in the mid 1800s, but don't know for sure if this line fits... Thanks for any help Magda Webster Clark

    1. [HUNT-L] PROBATE MINUTES?
    2. Duane Windsor
    3. This is my first posting to this list but have watched for many months I have a question regarding contents of Probate Minutes, these I understand are used when there is no will of record. I have a person who has no record of birth since the courthouse burn down in 1877!! He has no death record because the STATE CAN'T FIND ONE !! There is no estate proceedings for him naming his parents because he signed over his estate to a daughter before his death When his parents died there was a person appointed his legal guardian In probate of minutes, would it be normal that information about his parents and the person appointed as his guardian to appear in the same record or would it be in the same type of proceedings i e Probate Minutes but separate for the first ? 1. [HUNT-L] Documents Re: Ambrose Hunt
    2. Hello all, Below are transcripts of documents That I referred to in my earlier post. These were shared with me by Lisa Hunt Rawlings (thank you again, Lisa). The first two transcripts are from "HALIFAX COUNTY, VIRGINIA, DEED BOOK 15 (1790-1793)", published by T.L.C. Genealogy, Miami Beach, FL. The second two are from DEED BOOK 16 (1793-1796), published by the same. Page 431. Also to retain 11 (pound sign) for myself, with interest on it from this date, the ballance of the price of sd. land to go to Billey Wright when collected, either money or horses. It would appear that most of these people knew each other, and traveled to Kentucky as a group. I would like to point out that "Phayette County" is Fayette County, and I believe the part of Fayette Co. Ambrose was in is now Jessamine County, across Kentucky River from old Fort Harrod. M. 1. [HUNT-L] Reuben Hunt, Sr.
    2. Joseph Amburgey
    3. Hello Hunt researchers, I have waited many moons for the name Reuben Hunt to surface from the multitudes. I just so happen to be the 5th Great Grandchild of this Reuben. His son Reuben Hunt, Jr came to Greenup Co Ky from Bath Co between the death of his Father and 1830. I have some info on the descendants of this Reuben Jr on my genealogy page. I will also note for those interested, Reuben Jr. named his youngest son Ambrose. I would be very interested to find out more about this other Ambrose that was mentioned earlier. My genealogy page can be found at: http://www.batteryL.org/genealogy.html I would be pleased to hear from anyone connected to this line. Joseph Amburgey South Shore, KY

Seneca Hunt's will does not give any suspicion of a relationship to John. There are Hunt-Hall connections in Onondaga County, NY, but not in this line. Nancy was used for the name(s): Anne, Anna, Ana, Anette, Anita, Nina, Ninon, Nita, Annette, Nanette and possibly some few others as well. I would consider 'Sarah Anne' to be her most likely name. 3. Does anyone have a Mary C. C. Hunt in their data base? Several years ago I saw a marriage for a Mary C. C. Hunt in either Virginia or North Carolina sometime between 1775 and 1825, but I can't seem to put my hands on it now. Any help would be appreciated. At the time it didn't seem significant, sound familiar? Thanks in advance. Kay Kay.Silkey@mcmail.vanderbilt.edu

    3. I just came across this today. There are many HUNTs that are familiar. I haven't gone through our databases, to match them up, yet, but wanted to get this out for the list. Hope it is helpful. I saved this as a text file and copied it to my mail program. I'm not real happy with the way it turned out. If anyone has problems, just drop me a note and I will try to sort it out for you. 1. [HUNT-L] Re: Will of Reuben Hunt
    2. Felicia and all, Thanks so very much for responding to my question regarding the will of Reuben Hunt of Bath Co., KY. Alas, I see no connection to my Hunt line, other than acquaintance. In searching through the F&C File, it appears that there were three John Tipton Hunts, the line going back to the Baltimore, MD area before being lost. So......unless there is some earlier connection to Ralph Hunt of York Co., VA....zip. It is interesting to read the notes (in F&C File) regarding this Hunt line, and the fact that they were in Tennessee. Family legend (lore, rumor) has it that Ambrose Hunt and his family sojourned in TN, before coming through Cumberland Gap along the Wilderness Trail. In fact, it was said that the huge cut limestone slab that was the front door step of the "Old Home Place", where I was born, was hauled by wagon from New Tazewell, TN by Ambrose and family. Well......I don't know about that. The thing must have weighed over a thousand pounds, and I can't imagine using that much effort and space. Perhaps it was in Tennessee that Ambrose and Reuben became acquainted, or during the trip. Whatever the circumstances, it appears that about 1796 they parted ways; Ambrose going west, and Reuben going northeast. In a later message I will post the documents that Reuben and Nancy witnessed for Ambrose. Best regards all, M. Dean Hunt Louisville, KY

    1. [HUNT-L] Will of Reuben Hunt, Sr.
    2. Hello HUNTers, I read, with excitement, Courtney Tompkins post of the will of Reuben Hunt of Bath Co., KY. I am convinced this is the same Reuben Hunt, who with his wife Nancy, witnessed deeds of sale and power of attorney for my G-G-G-Grandfather, Ambrose Hunt when he stopped in what was then Fayette Co., KY, before continuing on to Green Co. Other than I suspect, strongly, that Reuben came from Halifax Co., VA, same as Ambrose, I know nothing about him. Assuming that he did indeed come from Halifax Co., VA, it is logical to assume there may have been some relationship between Rueben and Ambrose, but I don't *know* that. There are a number of Reuben/Reubin Hunts in Felecia and Clara's file, but I am unable to tie any of them to my Hunt clan. Can any of you learned researchers provide any additional information regarding this Reuben and Nancy Hunt? His parents? Connection to Ralph, Richard or Joseph Hunt of Virginia? Respectfully, M. Dean Hunt Louisville, KY
