    3. Hi I'd like to know about this, too, as I have an Ephraim Hunt of Acton, Ma. who married Tabitha Raymond. He was born 1736 so I think it is possible that he could have served in the Rev.War. Ephraim's father was Deacon Simon Hunt of Concord. His mother: Mary Raymond. Does anyone else have this line? Thanks Leslie Duane Howard wrote: > The book of "ORIGINAL MEMBERS AND OTHER OFFICERS ELIGIBLE TO THE SOCIETY > OF THE CINCINNATI" lists EPHRAIM HUNT, First Lieutenant - Served to > close of war - Mass. 3. Regarding the query on Joseph Hunt of Milton son of Ephraim I. this is the WEYMOUTH Line iof Hunts and is covered on page 293 of WYMAN. I can't guarantee he married a Margaret Brinsmeade--in fact it is blank in my copy and I have penciled in from an unknown source " Keith". Joseph's children are all here , seven of them showing Martha married a FORBES as stated and on 2 Feb 1700. Ephraim I was son of Enoch of Weymouth , a first settler married twice, 1st unknown and 2nd Sarah. Children are listed for unknown wife Ephraim b. 1620 and Peter who died 2 Oct 1692. Listed child for second wife, Sarah is Sarah who m. Matthew Pratt of Weymouth. The story of Enoch and son Ephraim is somewhat complicated. If I looked long enough I may find find it elsewhere than WYMAN. The story goes that Enoch returned to England and left Ephraim in America to handle his affairs. However some say there is more to it which involves some name changing. If more is needed let me know. Sandy Hunt in Lubbock

    2. Hi everyone I have just discovered your list and as I am trying to trace my fathers mother's family farther back than her parents I thought I would see if anyone could help me with this project. To this end the following is what I know about them. Frederick Hunt b) ca 1844 in Horsham, Sussex, England, he married Maria Oakes b) ca 1844 in Bungay, Suffolk, England. According to the Census of 1881 they had the following children birth years interpolated by the age given in the census. Alfred b) abt 1870, in Kettering, Northhamptonshire Kate (Catherine) b) 6 Mar 1872, Croydon, Surrey, England d) 21 Mar 1939 in N. Quincy MA. m) 1898 John T. Harris, ch) Benjamin Frederick b) 1899, Robert Harris b) 1905 and Walter Harris. John T. Harris died in 1917 and she married George E. McMahon sometime after 1917. Alice b) abt 1875 Croydon, Surrey Walter b) abt 1877 in Hemel Hemstead, Hertfordshire d) late 50's or early 60's I know he was alive in 1956. Charles b) abt 1878 in Croydon, Surrey Herbert b) abt 1881 Croydon, Surrey Eva Hunt b) 17 Dec 1883 in Croydon, Surrey, d) 10 Mar 1964 in Malden MA Lucia May b) 5 May 1886 in England, d) 11 May 1976 in Boston, Suffolk Co. MA there is also a Frank Hunt b) ca 1900-1910 who married a lady named Minnie __?__ I don't know when I do know he was my fathers 1st cousin and that they lived at 19 Newlands Close in Hassocks near Brighton from at least the early 60's to the mid 70's when they moved to Eastbourne I'm not sure when they died but I assume at Least Minnie died in the late 70's because we My Mother and I corresponded with them and the letters stopped in the late 70's (Minnie did the writing) I have several of her letters. and I also have a photo of them as I visited them in England twice once in 1965 and in 1970. What I would like to know is anything that anyone knows of this family, in either direction. I know nothing of the family that stayed in England. I do have further information on the 4 that came to the U.S. Information that Frank told me was that someone in his family had the family traced all the way back to the time of the Normans. As I really wasn't that interested in Genealogy at the time I never followed thru by asking who had it, or how to get a copy of it. Now I'm sorry I never asked. Someone might give me an Idea of where to look for information on these people as I may be coming to London sometime this year. Trish Harris Trish2866@AOL.com

    2. Honor Humphries
    3. I've been lurking on the list for a few weeks and have noticed that most of the information and requests are about HUNTS in the U.S.A. But perhaps there's someone who can help a U.K. "cousin". I'm searching for a Joseph Henry HUNT. The information that I have so far is that he was married in Mathern Church, Nr. Chepstow, Monmouthshire, S. Wales, U.K. in 1903 to Emily Martha Luckett. His father's name was Richard HUNT who was an engine driver. His daughter's birth certificate gave his name as Joseph Henry Hunt but on his marriage certificate he was just plain Henry. His occupation was labourer/farm carter. I've failed to find him on the 1891 census for this area but he is reputed to have hailed from Oxfordshire, England. Perhaps someone out there may have him on their family tree and can give me the vital clue as to his birth place. Yours hopefully, Honor. Honor Humphries in Monmouthshire, S. Wales, U.K. doubleH@connectfree.co.uk

    1. [HUNT-L] HUNT, Sarah, b. ca 1770-1780, probably northern NJ
    2. Hi Hunt List-- I've rejoined you after a several month absence and here's the Hunt I am looking for now. Briefly, I had been looking for an Elizabeth HUNT who supposedly married my 3rd great-grandfather, John HOUGH, Jr. of Schooleys Mts., Morris Co., NJ. I've been looking for evidence of that couple's birth and marriage for almost three years and so far have found nothing. None of the Hough/Howe/Huff researchers to date have been able to find out anything conclusive about a Hough family in Schooleys Mts. in the mid to late 1700. However, I feel pretty comfortable that John Hough was the father of my 2nd great-grandfather, Anthony HOUGH (1780-1865) because it is listed as so on Anthony's death record; I just don't know where he came from! This family ended up in Wantage Township, Sussex Co., NJ in the late 1700s and stayed there at least for the next 100 years. The mystery lady that I am now looking for is Sarah HUNT who married a John HOUGH in Sussex Co., NJ on August 17, 1800, per the Sussex County marriage records. I am thinking perhaps that the family history got confused somewhat and we are not looking for an Elizabeth Hunt born around 1750 but a Sarah born a bit later instead. There was a John HOUGH and his wife, Sarah (Sally) HOUGH who were involved in a land transaction in 1815/1816 in Sussex Co. with Anthony HOUGH and his wife, Elizabeth. Of course I am just guessing that this is the same John and Sarah who were married in 1800. I feel that there has got to be a HUNT there somewhere because from the early 1800s on it was common to use Hunt as a middle name for the males. And so, does anyone have a Sarah or Sally HUNT, born from 1770 to 1780, possibly in any of the northern NJ counties--Warren, Morris, Hunterdon, Sussex or Passaic or, Orange Co., NY or perhaps in eastern PA? I appreciate any and all thoughts you may have on my continuing search for a Hunt in my family tree. Regards to you from Austin, TX, Marilyn Hough Stern

These folks lived in the vicinity of Monroe County, Va. (now Ansted, Fayette County, West Virginia). They are buried on what use to be my Grandfather's farm in which there was a field which he referred to the HUNT field. They were buried probably in the early 1900's or earlier. These are the only people known that is buried there. As a small child, I remember before my Grandfather's health started failing that at least twice, he sent my father up there to fill in the grave sites and these sites were sinking over the period of time. Apparently, these HUNT's owned this property before my Grandfather purchased it. I know the exact location of these plots and could show anybody that might be interested. As a child, I do not remember any other folks by the name of HUNT back there. If anyone thinks that these people might have been one of their ancestors, please feel free to contact me and I will describe the location to them. All the individual names are available on the WEBSITE for each file. Sandy Hunt in Lubbock
