    1. [HUNT-L] Joseph HUNT; a daughter named Mary?
    2. Hello List, While doing some research at The Filson Club today, I came across the following: Halifax Co., VA Will Book O, 1752-1773, pg. 79 JOSEPH HUNT Orphans Account The orphans of Joseph Hunt to Joseph Ashby: To boarding of Mary Hunt 12 mo. her washing & lodging, to boarding & schooling of James Hunt, Jr., William Hunt, Ambrose Hunt & Benja. Hunt Total: 15.2.0 At a court held for Halifax County 16 August 1752 (my note: I think this is incorrect) Joseph Ashby came into Court & made Oath that the above Account is just & true. After Joseph L. Hunt died, his widow remarried to Joseph Ashby, and he was apparently (have not found proof) as guardian of Joseph Hunts "orphans". My question, for you experts, is Mary Hunt a daughter of Joseph Hunt and his wife Rachel? I do not have her listed as a daughter. And is the 12 months her age, or the period of time the estate is being billed for? Oh, yes! My note re: 1752. I believe this is too early and would be more like 1757, from the date on other documents. I think Joseph Hunt died in early 1756. M. Dean Hunt Louisville, KY

Thanks From: "Nancy Rogers" <NEROGERS@prodigy.net> To: <HUNT-L-request@rootsweb.com> Date: Sun, 18 Apr 1999 18:17:05 -0700 (PDT) Subject: Sarah M. Hunt I am once again trying to see if anyone has any information on this lady. She is my great grandmother and she was born July 10, 1844 in all likelihood in somewhere in either Delaware or Ulster counties of New York, married my great grandfather on December 15, 1866 in Cayuta (ville), New York, died April 12, 1904 and is buried in Danby New York. According to her death certificate her parents names were Catherine Hunt and James Hunt. She had a brother whose name was James E. Hunt, (July 10, 1840(?) to August 22, 1919.and according to some new information I just got he was married to an Emogene Crane in Odessa, New York on March 22, 1870. Since both he and my great grandfather enlisted in the same company in the Civil War and served together and according to one of the documents that I have they knew each other for five years before they enlisted (1862), it is my feeling that they were both living in the Cayuta, Catherine, Neufield area of either Schuyler or Tompkins County in 1860. My great grandfather shows up in the 1860 census, but James does not, even when read line by line for any of the areas listed above. I was attempting to locate him in the census to see if I could get any better line on Sarah. ___________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail. 2. My quest to find the parents of my Roderick Hunt may have ended! (pending some more confirmation). A search of the IGI online gave me a lead that the same search at the FHC did not -- could be I wasn't searching the correct disc. Anyway, it indicated that Roderick was the son of Samson HUNT and born in Glastonbury, Ct. The same FHC has the Barbour Collection so I checked it out for Glastonbury and what follows are the HUNTS which related specifically to Samson. The Wyman book has this Sampson as a "dead end." >From the Barbour Collection, Glastonbury, Ct: (Note: These are not all the Hunts from Glastonbury) 1 Major Samson R Hunt b 2/23/1761 in Glastonbury, Ct (hereafter "G") +Charity Dutcher (Daughter of Rufus of Canaan, Ct) b 1/30/1764 d 2/23/1807 G 2 Louisy Hunt b 12/27/1783 G 2 Washington Dutcher Hunt b 10/09/1785 G 2 Clemmantia Hunt b 3/18/1788 G 2 Walter Robard Hunt b 1/28/1792 G 2 Norman Samson Hunt b 11/13/1794 G 2 Roderic Russell Hunt b 10/08/1797 G 2 William Bool Hunt b 5/17/1802 G 2 Jane Lorane Hunt b 3/23/1806 G *2nd wife +Polly Bidwell m 10/26/1807 G 2 Henry Hunt b 5/10/1808 G 2 Horace Hunt b 2/20/1810 G 2 Maria Hunt b 3/06/1813 G *3rd wife +Polly Pease m 5/01/1822 G Hope this info can help someone else. 3. Dear "1600s MA HUNT" Listers, May I appeal to you again, after over two more lonngggg months of frustrating research. I have received some info from Sandy and will try to include "fwd" of last post to him too. Still not very computer proficient, so please forgive my ability to "cut and paste from a half dozen posts" demonstrated as follows: .......... After being unable to verify my Joseph HUNT and Margaret BRINSMEADE 's marriage (found in "FOBES Familiy in America") even in Torreys "N E Marriages Prior to 1700", I appealed to the HUNT list with a query for any help finding ancestors of Joseph HUNT with wife Margaret BRINSMEADE (daughter of Ephriam BRINSMEADE and Ebbet ________ ) and dau Martha HUNT b 2 Feb 1700 in Milton, MA. >> I received your reply (above) Ephriam, son of Enoch " Weymouth line". I thought that was an interesting coincidence, both bride and groom with father named Ephriam. Both Ephriams with sons named Joseph??? Still possible ~~. > Now, it is quite obvious to me that " both Ephriams " additionally being married to Ebbets, after both being married to 1/w Ann, Anne or Anna is more than just extremely unlikely, in my estimation. There has got to be a mistake !! ??? Will send to list once again, then just go back to doing my "Random Act of Generalogical Kindess" requests and chewing Xanax whenever I think of my MA ancestors! :o) Thanks again. Well, fellow HUNTs, is there a mistake or is just riot coincidence? Thank you all for your time and patience with a HUNT cousin. Most gratefully, Honor

    1. [HUNT-L] HUNT/KING INFORMATION IN TN.
    2. Carrol King wrote a letter on some Hunt families that were in MO. Counties that were mentioned in TN were Williamson, Maury, and Giles. I too am trying to connect these Hunt in MO to mine. Thomas A. Hunt and Sarah Davis(Lewis?). I have a book on Davidson Co. Tn. County Court Minutes-1792/1799, by Carol Wells. Davidson was one of the three orginial counties in TN. This area of TN belonged to NC and land was given to NC men who fought in the Revl. War from NC. This is why I think that these early Hunts come from NC and not KY. Williamson county was taken from Davidson county and Maury county is just below Williamson. Giles is just below Maury. These records are early enough to maybe establish the early generation of these Hunts in MO. I have done some research in these early counties for my Warren family and found that some of the early tax list show them in 2 different counties at the same time. And also some of the records show that the people were very upset and would not pay their taxes in one county because they had already paid in another. Here are some of the records from Davidson Co. Tn. July 1792 Pg.3 Page 6-Deed Elisha HUNT to Hardy Murfree proven by John Cryer subscribing witness thereto. Jan. 1794 Pg.37 Page 87-Jury 12 James C. Maclin, Robt. 1. [HUNT-L] Looking for descendants of George W. Hunt of GA, MS, and TX
    2. Bobbie Lou Bridges
    3. Hi, I have not inquired in a long time about my missing Hunts. My gggrandfather, George W. Hunt, b. Nov. 24, 1824, Elbert Co., GA, son of James Hunt, III and Mary W. Haynes, and his second wife, Susannah or Susan Wright (?), left Lafayette/Yalobusha Cos., MS, and were in Anderson County, TX, by 1853. My great-grandmother, Louisa Malinda Hunt Gibson, was b. in Lafayette Co., MS, on Aug. 22, 1844. She was the only child of George W. Hunt and wife Malinda(?) Kelly, daughter of James O. Kelly and Cynthia Redwine Kelly. Her mother died at or shortly after giving birth to Louisa Malinda Hunt. Her Kelly grandparents reared her until she moved to Anderson County, TX in 1853, to be with her father and his family. The children of the second marriage were: Texanna Hunt, b. 1846, in MS Elisen Ophelia, b. 1854, in Anderson Co., TX Emily Eugenia, b. 1856, in Anderson Co.,TX W. H. Hunt, b. 1859, in Anderson Co., TX George Eldredge Hunt, b. 1861, in Anderson Co.,TX Carter H. Hunt, b. July 5, 1864, in Anderson Co., TX George W. Hunt served in the Confederacy and came home to Palestine, Anderson Co., TX and was on the 1870 Census, with his wife, Susan and children Elisen Ophelia, Emily Eugenia, George Edlredge, and Carter H. Hunt. Louisa Malinda and Texanna Hunt had married and W. H. Hunt must have died after the 1860 and before the 1870 Anderson Co., Census. They were not on the 1880 Anderson Co., Census and I have been unable to locate them anywhere. If anyone has any of these named children, in your files, I would love to hear from you.
