Right on Sandy, it's about time people should give as much as they receive. .
Hello fellow "Hunters", Sandy Hunt tells us that the Hunt List now has a subscription base of 400+. If this is true, and I think that it certainly is, there are many of you out there who are lurking and not posting your material - Nothing ventured, nothing gained. If you are one of these "lurkers" and if you have either a NJ or NY Hunt line (or think that you might), please email us directly. We have a large amount of material for these states, and stand a reasonable chance of helping you. Our NY material is primarily from Southeast NY State - about 80% from Westchester County, New York City proper - including early Harlem (We have Towler's complete "Harlem Register"), and Long Island, with the balance in the other NY Counties. Our NJ material represents virtually all Counties, but it is especially strong for Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, and Burlington. NJ/NY mix is about 60/40%. Our data is about 40% from "primary" type sources, representing over 80 years of combined research by our families. About 65% is pre-1850. Family breakdown is roughly 45% Ralph Hunt of Long Island line, 35% Thomas and Cecelia Hunt of Westchester, NY line, 20% other NJ and NY Hunt families. (%'s from my husband - probably accurate - but I do not have a clue) We are not the only resource available to you on the Hunt List - - - not by far!!! I understand that our current subscriber base includes many other very dedicated, experienced, and in some cases professional or professional quality genealogists who will go out of their way to assist you. Perhaps some of those with other regional expertise will step forward with a similar offer. Special offer: We will examine your information and assist you in developing an email to be posted direct to the Hunt List so that all 400+ of our subscribers can review and have an opportunity to respond to your request (this if you are shy). We will, of course, look through your data and determine if we have any information in our files that will extend your lines. A subsequent Hunt List posting is an ABSOLUTE requirement of this offer - NO exceptions, but we will do so under our email address if you wish to remain anonymous. One comment to ALL Hunt List subscribers (MY OPINION ONLY). If a new member posts and excludes some important data from their inquiry, feel free to mention this to them. But PLEASE, do it "off-List" via private email. We need not embarrass them. Hope to help. Write if you wish. Pam jsc@i2020.net
I as much as anyone or more understand your feelings. I put up with this every day to the tune of 40 or 50 inquiries. I have learned to keep my cool and I know where the delete button is. I try to evaluate each inquiry to be sure that the questions are legitmate. . If all the information is not adequate I either delete the message or ask the sender for more information depending on my evaluation of the sender. Evaluating senders is quite easy. When I "delete" that means someone else will handle it because I have had it for the day. There are several types of messages I will not fool with: 1. Those obviously who are reaching way out for a connection and trying to fill in the middle. That is a lost cause and bad genealogy., and seldom brings ressults. "My grandmother told me that we are related to Charlemagne" it goes on and on. 2. Material from LDS and CD-Roms when the sender HAS NOT contacted the source. Its obvious.Don't believe all you read! Bible records are always a source of suspicion--what bible, who published it, when, and when were the entries made? Johnny Smith was at school one day and the teacher told him that surely he was related to Pegsus Smith. After school he told his mother who dutifully entered it in the family bible. One hundred years later Pegsus name came up and they looked in the family bible--yep there it was--it MUST be TRUE because its in the family bible. 3. When the sender refuses to relate his/her connection to those being asked about. That usually means they don't have a clue about what they are saying. 4. When the sender does not sign his/her message and does not show their location. Knowing where you live is very important. These are my PERSONAL rules and has nothing to do with the HUNT List. It is just a matter of how much time is available. I am here 18 hoiurs a day trying to help. IF I have time I can deal with it all. Don't hide the fact that you are new to this--say so and you will get LOTS of help. It is always a plus to all of us if you would tell us WHAT you have done on your own BEFORE going to the HUNT Consortium. Birth certificaftes, death and marriage certificates, Census etc. That saves us a lot of time by not having to research what you have already done. Capish?.Comprende? Comprende Vous? I am trying to find out any info on my George Hunt. I believe that his Father was B.L. Hunt though I have not proven it yet. The B. I think stands for Benjamin. I have George's Birth as Jan. 1854 or 1859 according to census'. The 1860 census for B.L. is as follows: B.L. Hunt 34 cabinetmaker Sarah 26 Robt. 3 Geo. H. 2 this should be my George? Frances E. 4/12 Is anyone out there in Hunt land familiar with this line? Thanks Todd Hunt

I do not agree with your information. Richard Hunt and Eleanor Linton were James parents and Ralph Hunt, the immigrant to Virginia (not related to the Long Island Ralph) was the father of Richard. James was a Rev. War Soldier. He enlisted, even in his old age (74), to be with his grandson, James Wimbish. I am sorry if you are getting many times, I put in the wrong address. I am trying to get information on my Grandfather, Albert Waldo Hunt. He died on February 8, 1937 in Baird, Texas ( Callahan County). His age at the time of his death would make him born about December of 1875. My Grandmother was a Frazier or Frasier and died in the 1920's. Their children, William Albert Hunt (my Dad), born April 24, 1907 in Ranger, TX (Eastland County) and died December 20, 1993 in Abilene, TX ( Taylor County). His sister, Ruby Mae and brother Joe Dewey. Ruby Mae and Joe had no children. I am an only children and my sons and I would like to learn what we can about our backgrounds. Any help you can be would be appreciated. Thanks, J.W. Hunt Hurst, Texas

Died February 8, 1937 in Baird, Texas (Callahan County). He was married to a Frazier or Frasier, she died in the 1920's. Their children were my dad, William Allbert Hunt, Born April 24, 1907 in Ranger, Texas (Eastland County) and died December 20, 1993 in Abilene, Texas (Taylor County). His sister was Ruby Mae and brother Joe Dewey--they had no children. I am the only child of the three. I was never told any thing about my dad's family and until he died and we found a picture, didn't know what my granddad looked like. My sons and I would like to learn about our back ground, if you can be of any assistance I would be very greatful. Thanks, J.W.
