Fleetwood: Your info is excellent; however, I don't believe anyone said he went to S.C. Later descendants went to N.C and on to SC. Rhoda's (widow of James Hunt) application is a real stickler! It gives deposition of two persons to verify her information: James Johnson, a Re. pensioner of Henry Co. and "On Oct. 22, 1841, Mrs. Lucy Wimbish, widow of James Wimbish, a Rev. pensioner who resided in Halifax Co., declares she is a cousin of James hunt, husband of Rhody (sic) who lived in the neighborhood of HER father, Elijah Hunt. So---Lucy was Lucy Hunt, daughter of Elijah, James BROTHER! Yes, I DO believe that James Sr. (b. 1703) served in the Rev. War with his nephew! He DID serve as you say, as senior Justice of the Peace, but this does not preclude his serving in the Rev. War. Clara and I have muddled over this puzzle for years and this is our conclusion. We always respect your work, Fleetwood, and either of us could be right. It is very ambiguous. Felicia -----Original Message----- From: Fleetwood M. I'm looking for information on Joshua Hunt (born around 1820) and married to Sidonma ?. They were married around 1849 and had their first child in 1850-1851. The family moved to Monmouth, IL around 1861. They had the following children: Frances (f, born VA, 1851); George (m, VA 1852); Jasper (m, VA 1856); Sarqh (f, 1859 VA); Eugene (m, 1862, IL) and Elizabeth (f, 1864, IL). I think they also had a daughter in 1850, who is not on this list. The VA is now WV-around Morgantown. The IL is Monmouth, IL (in Warren Co.). George Hunt (b. 1852; d 1903) married Sara Jane Kildow (married 1874; Monomouth, IL) and moved to Council Bluffs, Iowa. George Hunt and Sara's children were Frank, Edward, Bertha, Blanche, George, Susie, Harriet, Chester, Bud, William, Eugene. Any information?

Sharon Pisors comment on John Hunt and Margaret Moore. The current and foremost expert on this subject is Mitchell J. Hunt.(1995). I am his E-Mail agent. His manuscript is on file with me for the purpose of answering questions and/or providing copies of the manuscript at cost. of reproduction. No knowledgeable genealogist can, with proof, get her family back that far. Just someone's guess. I would love to see it proved and get it out of the fairy tale category. . . Sandy Hunt Lubbock Tejas
Robert asked why no one had ever posted anything on William and Elizabeth Best. Well thats because people seldom ask. I guess I have answered questions on this CONCORD line a dozen or more times since I have been on here and many more times before I was on here. The problem probably is that it just isn't in anyones computer. because the Weymouth line is big and covers 91 pages in WYMAN. Probably the best summary of the Concord Line to be found anywhere. Of course EVERYONE isn't here it lends itself to a lot of hardwork.I have a bit more than is in WYMAN. William was married tgwice 1st to Elizabeth Best?? and second to Mercy Rice Hurd. Elizabeth is portrayed as dying in 27 Dec 1661 and Marcy sometime in 1664. Isaac was the youngest child who. there were a total of 10 Isaacs so no wonder there may be confusion. John-3 son of Isaac b. 1712 m. a Mary??? 1st and 2nd Patience Wright There were eight children and some of them are carried through in WYMAN--Aaron, Joseph, John and Moses. I haven't looked tosee how far they go. Anyway this family is well documented in WYMAN. My pleasure to answer any questions. The entire JOHN Hunt pedigree is shown in a chart. beginning with William and his three sons Nehemiah, Samuel and Isaac and so forth. Sandy Lubbock Tejas
OK, I'll admit it. I'm one of those shy members. I've been reading all postings since I subscribed in Jan 1998, but have not posted since then. Will share more information and/or my sources with anyone who wants. --Bob White
Additional information which changes subject message: 1) James Hunt (1703-1795) did not enlisted in the military during the Rev War but was the senior justice of peace in Charlotte County, Virginia during that war. He was as the senior justice of peace (sometime called the Presiding Justice) from the establishment of Charlotte County in 1765 until he resigned at the age of 81 in 1784. He signed most of court minutes during this period if not all. He could only have been gone from Charlotte County during the this period for very short periods. In the James Hunt's the REV WAR veteran pension application that is cited in the reference message there is an affidavit of Lucy Wimbush. She was James Hunt (1703-1795) granddaughter and a daughter of Elijah Hunt (James Hunt's son). She stated the James Hunt in the application was her cousin and had lived nearby. It highly unlikely she would have referred to her grandfather as a cousin. It been determined she had no first cousin who could have been this James Hunt so it assume was referring to a more distance cousin. The likely candidates would be a descendant of Joseph Hunt or of one the Hunts that moved into the area where she lived around the REV WAR from Charles County, Maryland. 2) James Hunt's son Charles Hunt in referred message died in Charlotte County, Virginia and left a will which is recorded in Charlotte County Will Book 1 page 408. He did not moved to South Carolina prior to his death. There is a fair amount of information of him and his son James Hunt a REV WAR veteran. Hey I am trying to find info on my g-mother and her sisters Margaret "Nettie" Grace Hunt b. July 17 1901 Crowe W.Va. Cyrena Hunt NFI (except) She married a doctor, traveled to California VIA Arizona Mamie Hunt M. Robert Kincaid (probably Charleston, W.Va.) Mamie and Robert had several children but from what I understand from my uncle All but two children and Mamie were killed in the Paint creek floods of 1931 or 32 (West Virginia). Mamie's surviving children were: Robert Kincaid died in Okinawa Edward Kincaid died at home in Charleston W.Va. Do any of these names ring a bell, I can probably come up with more info if anyone has an idea or thought. Thank you Todd Hunt
I have posted this several times before, but it is now more complete. Sarah Mariah Hunt was born in 1844 in Delware County, her parents were Catharine (XXX) Hunt Dickson Cass (1817) and Stephen Hunt (Sept 20, 1788). Stephen according to the 1850 (Delaware county) census was considerably older than Catharine and by the 1860 (Cayutaville, Schuyler County) census she is listed as Catharine Dickson, with one daughter Lucinda in her residence. By 1865 she is listed as being a boarder in a dwelling owned by John Cass, including the following Sarah Mariah Hunt, Lucinda Hunt, and Leroy Dickson and states that she has been widowed twice. By 1875 she is shown as the wife of John Cass (1797) and once again he is cosiderably older than her. It is my opinion that Stephen Hunt is a part of the Daniel Hunt family from Delaware, Duchess and Ulster county. According to the Commerative Biographical Record published in 1896 of Ulster County, Stephen was one of 17 brothers and sisters. Daniel Hunt (July 1, 1741 to August 11, 1811) his mother was Mary Burch (Dec 26, 1749 to August 18, 1840). I am interested in getting more information on this particular branch of the Hunt family and also if possible getting information on the married in female lines. Thanks.

I am looking for my grandmother who was married to a Robert Bell some time in the late 1860's, where I don't know. Her name has been given as Ellen or Georgia and she was born around 1847 somewhere in New York, this according to the 1880 Chicago Ill census. What here parent's names are I do not know. Her and Robert had 4 children, William, my father, Robert Jr, Elizabeth and Sarah. Any information regarding this Hunt would be greatly appreciated.
