    3. Nice to see you back Lloyd. One point I didn't make last time--if any of these folks were alive after 1934 check the Social Security Death index and see if their names appear. If so you need to get their SS applications and records. Excellent information there. Sandy Lubbock.

    3. All of these messages brings up another interesting twist I found when reviewing the lineage described at the end of this thread and the information I have which is as follows: James Hunt was born in 1703/1704 in Hanover County, VA and died in 1795 in Charlotte County, VA. His will was prbated on 9/7/1795. He was married 1st to Sarah Pitt and 2nd to Mary Gilbert b. 1712 d. 1789 d/o Nathan Gilbert The children listed are as follows: 1. John Christopher 2. Charles b. 1724 md Tabitha ? 3. Nathaniel b. 1726 4. Elijah b.1728 md Sarah ? 5. James b. 1729 6. John Gilbertus b.1731 d. 1805 md Sarah Robinson, 7. Mary md Wm McGraw 8. Sarah md Thomas Craighead, 9. Nancy md John Huntsman, 10. David b. 1745 d. 2/14/1826 md Nancy Richardson As you can see most of the children and dates match or are quite close. Has anyone else run across this or do you have any opinions about this discrepancy. This is important to me from the standpoint that John Gilbertus is part of my direct line back to James Hunt b. 1704. Perhaps some of the records were lost that pertained to John Gilbertus. 2. I am a lurker with very little information, but I am a descendant of Elijah`s youngest child Rebecca who married George Anderson Irion. Have a copy of a Bible Record of Rebecca`s, it lists all of her siblings, their birth and death date and the marriage date of her sister Mary. John Stafford Irion

    1. Re: [HUNT-L] about "consort"
    2. someone asked about this: << [a gravemarker] gave the woman's name and said "Consort of" the man. >> For those asking about "consort" -- it means (1) partner or sharer, (2) associate, and (3) spouse. Merriam-Webster. Not sure if those meanings are in order of useage, length of time documented, or what. But in the context of what was asked, spouse is the answer - not gender-specific. Remember: Prince Albert was the consort of Queen Victoria - I think she chose this term for him when her parliament would not give him the higher rank she thot appropriate. I'd recommend to all - bookmark a dictionary on your server or elsewhere - I have Merriam-Webster and the Oxford Dict at the ready to answer these questions - both provide excellent coverage of even the most abstruse words. (I also have a thesarus bookmarked - and a biographical dictionary.) These are good helps which may reduce the need for questions about definition on the lists, just as the map and gazetteer sites do for location. Cheers to all, Ginny Crawford VCrawf@aol.com Carmel Valley CA

    3. I think the "Consort of" means that the husband was still alive. "Relic of" means he had died before her. Courtney tompkin@c2i2.com ----- Original Message ----- > I had found information of a marriage and a child, both mother & child had died > at childbirth. When I found the gravestone, it gave the woman's name and said > "Consort of" > the man. This could be your answer to the gravestone reading the maiden name.

    1. [HUNT-L] Fw: Seneca Co., NY Hunts
    2. I am seeking information on the ancestry of Henry HUNT (born about 1816 in ROMULUS, SENECA CO., NY). He married Caroline Louise RATHBONE (born 2 May 1808 in Lee, Berkshire Co., MA). Their son, Rathbun John "R.J." HUNT, was born 1846 in Romulus, Seneca Co., NY. He married Frances Odel Goodyear, and had my great grandmother Caroline Lucille Hunt (a.k.a. Lucille Caroline Hunt) b. abt 1886 in Tompkins Co., NY. R.J. Hunt was an insurance agent who was an amateur inventor in his spare time. He developed an automobile in the late 1800's or early 1900's and travelled to New York City to speak to Henry Ford about his invention. When he asked Mr. Ford what he planned to do with his Model T, Ford replied "Manufacture it." I have a request out now to the county clerk's office in Seneca County, NY for further records on Henry Hunt. Albany did not have a death certificate for him. I have a copy of R.J. Hunt's death certificate I have posted this inquiry a couple of times before, and I will keep sending it periodically. I will be out of town for much of the next month, but I will reply eventually to any postings. Doug Files 1435 Malibu Circle, #108 Palm Bay, FL 32905 (407) 956-8362 dougfiles@juno.com

    3. Julie- Many of your people are alive still. I don't have info on live people except me..Dates are too recent for most genealogical work. If you are looking for live people please goto <http://www.cyndislist.com> and find someone dealing with missing persons. On the other hand you have several who died after 1935 which would mean they may have had Social Security Numbers (SSN). There is a lot of good info to be had in SS applications and SS records. Go to http://www.ancestry,com and look at the Social Security Death Index for the names--get their SSN and write to the SS Administration for their SS applications and records. You will be surprised about how much info you can find in those records. Sandy Hunt The Hunt Consortium.

    1. [HUNT-L] Martha A. Hunt of PA
    2. Ed Hill
    3. OK, I'll admit it. I am one of those "shy" ones also. I have subscribed for about 1 month now and "lurked" only because I feel like I have so little information on my Hunts, that I've been afraid to post it. Well, since I have been encouraged to do so, here it is: Martha A. HUNT, b. 5 Apr 1806 in Pennsylvania (do not know what part of PA) and died 17 Aug, 1840 in Muncy, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. She married David HILL (b. 30 Aug 30 1801, d. 6 May 1877). They were married 29 Jun 1828 in Muncy. Martha and David are buried in the "Old Hill Cemetary" in Lycoming County, PA. Martha and David had six children: Amos b. 23 Apr 1829; Elizabeth b. 30 Dec 1830; Francis b. 1 Jan 1833; Jerry b. 1 Nov. 1834; David Oliver b. 15 Nov 1836; George Treon b. 17 Feb. 1839. The only information I have on Martha's parents is that her fathers name is Absalom HUNT and her mother's name is Elizabeth (?). I do not know any other information on Absalom or Elizabeth. This is my brick wall on this side of the family. If anyone recognizes this, or has any other information or suggestions for me, I would appreciate hearing from you! Happy hunting all!
