    3. Yep, Let it continue... While this is not my line, the information of this type is valuable to all researchers. I would like to see all threads that are begun on this forum continued in PUBLIC (unless of a very personal nature). It is very confusing to see the answer to a question without seeing the question and comments that have been made to it. It is easy to delete each item if it is of no interest to you. That's my two-cents worth, as if you need more input... Ray Hunt At 09:02 PM 07/26/1999 , you wrote: >I agree with Kay! Please keep this discussion on HUNT-L. 2. Spencer Trent Hunt ws the son of James Hunt and Rhoda Nunnelee. She filed for a widow's pension after the REV. WAR #W19832. This is one of the families Fleetwood and I have been discussing. There are many, many Richards, so I would not bank on this family being yours. 2. Randy Hunt
    3. Hi everybody. I have been having trouble "finding" Hunt info farther back than my great grandfather and would like to know if any of you have any tips or connections. My name is Randy Hunt My father was Adam Cassie Hunt His father was the same His father was Richard Hunt (my great grandfather) All I know of Richard Hunt is that he maybe was born around 1840 and got married to Emily Wylie in Scott Co. MO around 1860. He lived there until he died in 1879. He was supposed to have joined the Civil War (maybe confederate because I don't find him in the Union records). Family stories have him growing up in the South near "plantations". I find a Richard Hunt in Franklin Co, TN living with a Spencer Hunt that is 70 years old. I know that my grandfather, Adam Cassie Hunt was the only living son so there are no other Hunts in my line that I don't know of. Does anyone on this list have info or connections to this Spencer Hunt or the other "grandchildren" listed in the 1850 Franklin Co, TN census. They are David and Elizabeth (maybe others). Thank you for your help if you can, Randy Porter, IN , Randy Porter, IN

    1. [HUNT-L] My 2 cents :)
    2. Hi Everybody, I may not be able to find my 5th great-grandfather William Kinchen Hunt's (of Rutherford/Cleveland Cty, NC) parents, but from the list online tonight, I have to be related to all of you. What a bunch, I LOVE all of you. Lets keep this list friendly and OPEN to everyone no matter what is being said, like the others I learn something everyday. If you don't like the "Subject Line", HIT DELETE. My 2 cents worth too :) Jean

    2. Fleetwood: Anyone (soldiers included) could file for a private claim. This was only to recover items the army had taken from them to provide for the troups, i.e. "400 lbs of beef". As for the DAR records, this was once true; however, the DAR has worked very hard to purge their records and I belive you will find them to now be excellent references. Many, many of the old ones have now been disallowed and there are new sets of records published about every ten years. I have the entire set. The fact that James (b. 1701) does not appear, only means no one has applied on this line. I have proof on his service and will give you his service pension record number in a later message I DO concede on the Charles, son of James, having a son James who married Christiana and moved to Rutherford co., TN. I have this record. Felicia -----Original Message----- From: Fleetwood M. 3. I haven't posted for several months, so I thought I'd try my family again and see if anyone has any knowledge of this branch. Anderson Hunt, (b. unk d. unk) m. Julia Willis in early 1840's in Lawrence Co., OH He apparently sometime along the years also had a steady relationship with a Milly Nance, and had at least three children with her as well (seems to be simultaneous with his marriage). One of those children he had with his wife Julia was Alonzo Hunt, my g-grandfather (my Alonzo was born in 1859, although I know there is another born about 15 years earlier not far away in Ohio). I have found his obituary and family information given at the time lists full and half-sisters and brothers, so it appears that the story is true. I'm looking for other descendants of Anderson who may have more information than I do, or any descendants of Alonzo, so we can share information. Melissa (Hunt) Girardot trucks@bright.net

    2. Felicia and List, Well, for one, I am EXTREMELY interested in this discussion! Having been interested in genealogy for only three and a half years, there is a great deal I must learn. And a great part of that can't be learned from some book written by some "expert." I have closely followed this discussion and have learned quite a bit about the deductive reasoning that can (should?) be done to follow the different threads among all the Johns, James, Josephs and Williams this Hunt line seems to have. My two cents worth, M. Dean Hunt ps: If I have offended anyone, flame me personally at <mdeanhunt@aol.com> not the List!

    1. [HUNT-L] WARNING: FTM CD 453...
    2. Jim Ward
    3. To all: Is anyone aware of any data missing from the original 1850 US Census, and if not, why would FTM sell an incomplete CD without some form of explanation? Anyone planning to buy, or having just bought the newly-released Family Tree Maker Family Archive CD 453, which is the 1850 Census Microfilm Records for Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Mississippi, should consider the following information. According to their online literature, this Family Archive, a 6-CD set, indexes approximately 337,000 heads of household listed in the 1850 federal census from four southern states. It includes 123,322 individuals from Alabama, 40,238 individuals from Arkansas, 96,813 individuals from Louisiana, and 76,709 individuals from Mississippi. What FTM DOES NOT tell you in their literature is that CD 453 IS NOT COMPLETE. CD 453 does not contain the full 1850 census for the states noted above. Suspecting that the numbers quoted above are indeed low, I called Family Tree Maker twice in the last four days and was told by one person that the CD is 80% complete, and told by another person that some counties were not included. Neither of these customer representatives could tell me what counties were missing, nor from what state. Any thoughts? Jim

Long ago I found one can only use DAR lineages as suggestive material since much of the early documentation of members was questionable and no longer accepted by the DAR. In fact when I visit their Hqs they are very careful not to let me see any of this material since for years they have been trying to live down these indiscretions by their early members. For example some dear lady joined the DAR as a descendant of Thomas Hunt the veteran I mentioned in my last note. We know for a fact from the National Archives material that he was born in Maryland, moved to Halifax county, Virginia where he lived for 30 years and then moved to Rutherford County, Tennessee where he died. She submitted a newspaper ob of a Thomas Hunt some where in Ohio who she said he was the Thomas Hunt the veteran and she descended from him. I sure Hunt genealogists reading this site are bored with this discussion so let us stop this discussion as I am not prepared to accept James Hunt (1703-1795) at the age of 74 year joined the army. One last thought occurred to me if he was a veteran why did he file for a Virginia Public Claim after the war. There would be absolutely no reason for a veteran to file such a claim. War. The service record which you found in the archives, "Cpl/Sgt/Sgt. Maj. in Capt Thwelt's Company" is the one that is supposed to be James Sr. This is the notation that Dr. Archibald Alexander gave; however, it is not listed in Patrick Wardell's book. It IS listed in the DAR Patriot index as follows: "HanesL b c 1720 /va d a 9-7-1795 VA m Sarah Whitlock Sol. Again, it was said that he enlisted as an old man to be with his "grandson, James Wimbish". Felicia -----Original Message----- From: Fleetwood M.
