With Isaac, she had twins, Bessie and Ethel, my grandfather, Albert Hunt, and twins again,Mary Martha and Joseph Arthur. Any info will be appreciated. [email protected]
Surely there is someone out there that knows how to do this simple task? I have now made 5 requests to be unconnected to this particular website. Here's hoping. Joe Ed Lamb

Woody, If you can give a bit more info. (like birth place/date range) for Nathan Peck & more info. on Elizabeth (Hunt) Peck, I can look at the LDS 1880 census for you. There are 18 Nathan Peck's on that census, but none in NE. All you need to fill in are Feature Name (town, lake, creek, river, school, cemetery, post office, etc) and State. I was able to locate Excelsior but not Eddysville, IO. This site is worth a favorite mark, I have used it many times in my research. Larry Hunt
Kellie, Eddyville is on the border of Wapello county & Mahaska county Iowa. The IGI record that Elwyn found cannot be entirely correct because there were no permanent settlements in Iowa as early as 1825; even Iowa did not exist then. The first white settlers came to the area that became Iowa after the close of the Black Hawk war in 1832. In 1838 the Territory of Iowa was created from Wisconsin Territory. In 1843 the counties of Wapello & Mahaska were created. Having said that, the IGI record can be used as a guide; I would venture that John Stephen Hunt was born in the area that eventually would become Eddyville, Iowa. Exeelsior (note the spelling) is found in Mahaska county also. It is so tiny that it it doesn't even appear on my detailed Iowa map of 1897, nor in the 1904 Iowa official Register. Using the GNIS locator, I'd estimate that it is only a couple of miles from Eddyville. There is a John Hunt found on the 1880 census in Madison twp. Mahaska co. Iowa. His age is given as 52 (making birthyear about 1828); b. IN; father b. NC & mother b. SC; wife Anney; sons Noah H., James M., John C. and Edward C. -- all b. in IA. Since Noah is age 20, the family must have been in IA at least since 1860. Living nearby with his daughter Lucinda H. Coffin, is Noah Hunt, age 80; b. NC. In Keokuk twp. Wapello co. IA is Noah Slutts; age 63; b. MO; father b. OH; mother b. IA. Wife is Rachel. Sons David H., Jacob, Jeames E. & grandson Stephen. [note: I realize that your Noah died in 1878, but Bible records are not alway accurate or this 1880 Noah could be a relative] If I were you Kellie, I'd look for my Hunt ancestors in Wapello or Mahaska Co. IA. Check out the Iowa Genweb sites for those counties; join the Iowa-L and place a query. You may solve the mystery!! Good Luck! Sharyl [Decendant of Gad Hunt of Coventry CT. Hi. I have nothing on the specific people you're searching, but you might try to investigate records of Charles City County even though it's considered a "burned county" because I've seen the Hunt and Ladd names there. Maybe someone reading this has dug into Charles City records and has a clue. Kellie, There are 2 listings in the IGI of LDS for John Stephen Hunt. Both show him b. 1825 "of Eddysville, Iowa". No parents shown, only a relative, Mary Elizabeth Hunt. I could not locate either Eddysville nor Excelsior on any current maps of Iowa. Not much to go on, but I hope it helps. Elwyn D. Draper Visit the Draper-tree at www.geocities.com/draper-tree.
Hi, list. Thought I'd post this info again and see if it looks familiar to anyone. I am the second generator to try to figure out who these people were and why their names were preserved among old family photos. Most sincerely, Kellie Reeve Robinson [email protected]
