    1. Re: [HUNT-L] William Pemberton Hunt
    2. Teri Tillman
    3. I wonder if your William Hunt could be one of the missing children of Peter Hunt and Nancy George of Sullivan County? Nancy was the daughter of James J. George and Elizabeth Pemberton. Peter and Nancy had a son who was named Pemberton. When and where did your William P. Hunt die? What documentation do you have that gives his middle name as Pemberton? Your William P. Hunt is listed on the 1850 Sullivan Co. TN (1st Division, p. 48)census with 2 other children who do not appear with the family listing on the 1860 census: George P., 5, and Elbert, 3. It is possible that they died before 1860. Wm. was listed as a blacksmith on the 1850 census and had a 20 year old apprentice living with him. The use of the given names Nancy and George and the family name Pemberton suggests there could be a connection, but it proves nothing. Much more research would have to be done. Peter Hunt does not mention a son named William in his will; however, if your William died before Peter, then he would not have been mentioned in the will. I am a 4th great-granddaughter of Peter and Nancy Hunt and will pass this message on to any of my Hunt relatives who may not be on this list. 3. I ran across this in cleaning out some papers and thought it might interest some of those researching HUNT in NJ. From the SC Historical & Genealogical magazine, VOL.XXXIV Pg. 111. Mariage & Death notices:"Died, on the 12th inst. (12 March 1810), in this city (Charleston) where he had come for the establishment of his health, Brigadier General Hunt, of New Jersey, Adjutant General of the Militia of that state. It must be consolatory to the feelings of his afflicted relatives and friends to learn, that this gentleman received here all that sympathy for his sufferings, and regard for his memory, which their own affectionate zeal would have displayed. By request of General Read,, a detachment of the 17th brigade performed the melancholy honors of his internment, and the officers of the different regiments in the city united in accompanying to their last sad abode, the remains of the departed stranger. (Friday, March 16, 1810)" Felicia
