Sandy Hunt Lubbock --------- Forwarded message ---------- From: [email protected] I have been subscribing to the Hunt List for several months and kept hoping I would see something that might help me in my search. My grandfather was Samuel Anderson Hunt who was born around 1858 in West Virginia, settled in Estill County, KY and died 3/11/1927. My grandmother's name is Grace Ellen Hollers (Reynolds). He had at least two sons before he married my grandmother, John Hunt and Huey Hunt. My father was born 8/16/1926 in Ravenna, KY (Estill County). His father, died when he was seven months old. Would you happen to have any info on this line?? Any assistance will be appreciated. My father does not have a lot of info and would like to know where our family came from. 3. Yes Sandy, I'm here, barely. I don't think I ever pursued the subject Tabitha. As I remember, some folks thought Tabitha who married Thomas Tiller was the widow of Charles Hunt who was the son of James Hunt Sr. and Sarah Whitlock. But I doubt it because that specific Charles made his Charlotte Co. Will 15 Oct. 1785, proved 1 Sept. 1788, and his widow Tabitha Hunt was granted cert. for obtaining probate in the same court session of 1 Sept. 1788. In James Hunt Sr.'s Charlotte Co. will of 1795 he devised one negro man Robert to Tabitha HUNT, widow of my son Charles...." All the above would seem to indicate, rather conclusively, that Charles' widow Tabitha was still Mrs. Hunt in 1795. Charles Hunt named 5 children in his 1785 will viz: JAMES, MARY ANN, SARAH, ELIZABETH, NANCY. He made it clear not all were of legal age. By 1795 Nancy had become Nancy Hunt Huntsman...etc. From long experience, everything by Andrea needs verification. He sometimes embedded personal conclusions in his typed presentations of material without identifying them as such & thereby disguising them which resulted in readers naturally assuming he read the information in recorded documents. At other times he made normal mistakes like all the rest of us when reading, writing, and thinking we are thinking! Sorry. 3. Dear Alyce- I am about to give you ALL I know about Tabitha: Married 2nd, Thomas Tiller, in Pr. Edward Co., Va. on 16 Apr. 1791. (See misc. Wills, by Andrea II, pg 7). In James Hunt's pension application he states his mother's name was Ann and his father, Charles. NADA MAS on this Tabitha. I don't have ANDREA so I can't look it up. Bill Hunt in FAirport LI has a copy. Bill are you there????? *************************************************************** It is interesting to note that there is a TABITHA who married William Hunt, styled Captain,Mr., and Major. He was probably born and died in Charles City County VA. In 1694 Mrs. Ann Harris made two deeds of gift; One to the children of "my son, William Hunt" and one to MY TYLER GRANDCHILDREN (could this be TILLER?) William's father was William the BACONITE who we guess married the widow Ann Harris whose only proven child was William, below. On 1 April 1714 William Hunt II and his wife TABITHA(NSN-no surname) of Charles City County VA sold land etc. etc. I have this TABITHA's inventory and her children. There was also a TABITHA Minge 1741 unmarried, her grandaughter-mother Mary Hunt who married among others MINGE. There is a lot more but no sense typing it all unless this is the material you want. 1. [HUNT-L] Hunt family in Ohio
    2. Bonnie Green (Sassy)
    3. Hello, I am looking for information on a Hunt family that lived in Ashland Co-Richland Co area of Ohio. The mother's name was Elizabeth and she had at least two children Ellen (Ellan) Ann and Robert Hunt. Ellen married Gideon Macumber. Ellen was born in Feb 1857 in Ohio according to census records. It also said that her parents were both born in Ohio. Ellen was my ggrandmother but I have no information on her other than her children and their descendants. I am interested in finding her parents and any other ancestors of her. Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated. Ellen passed away in Elkhart, Indiana in 1928. I have heard stories of a Gertrude Hunt that was somehow related to her. Gertrude was a member of the Dunkard faith. That is the full extent of my knowledge on her. Thanks for your help. 1. [HUNT-L] Tabitha Hunt m. Thomas Tiller before 1787, prob Amherst Co, Va
    2. Tabitha Hunt married Thomas Tiller prior to the birth of James White Tiller 1 May 1787. Does anyone knoe who the parents of Tabitha Hunt were?? Thomas Tiller removed to Warren Co, Ky and resided near Naked Fork as he died Oct 8, 1854 at pleasant Hope, Polk Co, Missouri. There was a Hunt family living in Amherst county near the line wherin land once in Amherst eventually fell into Nelson Co adjacent to the lands of Chs. Christian, Chs. Weldy, John Lane, John Pryor and others. There are a few other Hunt family collaberations by marriage scattered amongst my family tree and I am wondering what you all might know about Tabitha. Thanks in advance.. Alyce Hart

    1. [HUNT-L] Just a thought
    2. To the good people of the Hunt list. I have just had a thought (which is rare). I live in Gladstone, Missouri. The courthouses of Clay, Platte, and Jackson Counties in Missouri are close to me. I have business that takes me to them on at least once a week, no I am not a lawyer. Anyway, I would be happy to look up anything in those three counties for my Hunt cousins. I have found the actual records have much more information then the books in the libraries do. For example, Missouri has some called Bond of Administrations for people who died without wills. These pieces of paper list everyone that files a claim against the estate as well as there location at the time. We found three people on one that we had listed as dead. One was a man named Rufus Fern Bailey. We thought he had died in 1889 or so. Turns out he moved to Riverside County, California. We then found a census listed that showed his kids names. From the Social Security index we found we missed meeting the youngest son by only a few months. My Aunt then found a grandson, living eight blocks from her in California. Sorry, I was rambling. The point is that since we all live in different counties it might be handy for people who live in the county seats to volunteer to do look ups in those counties. I am volunteering to do look ups for anyone on the Hunt list in Clay, Platte, and Jackson Counties in Missouri. It does not have to be Hunt related but I only am offering to do so for people on this list. Jeff
