    1. [HUNT-L] Fanny Hutchinson's Copy Book
    2. Art H.
    3. The following is taken from a copy book entry made by my aunt, Fannie Hutchinson (1884-1946), in May 1904. It is a true copy of what SHE wrote. Hope it's of interest. Art Hutchinson ---- "A genealogy written by grandpa or Wm. Hunt, to his daughter Sally Cowles, & copied by his grandaughter Susanna, and copied again by his great granddaughter Fannie Hutchinson in May 1904. the first copy was made in July 1855. Sally, I shall write this genealogy as tho' I was talking to you and wish I could tell you more - your great, great grand father Hunt emigrated from old England and settled below Boston Mass, town of Ducksbury Co. of Plymouth, supposed to be not far from Plymouth Rock, so well known to this day; the anniversary of which is still kept up as the place where our Pilgrim Fathers landed from England in the Mayflower. Your grandfather Ziba Hunt was born in Duckbury, Plymouth Co. Mass. near the sea shore Jan 15th 1746. His father moved from Ducksbury up to a place called Groton near New London Conn. and in that place was drowned by the upsetting of a boat which he was in on the Cove. Your great grandmother afterwards married a man by the name of John Partridge who brought her up into the country to his farm in the town of Preston, Windham Co., Conn. which is as far back as I have any recollection from information as it was before I was born, but I well recollect as soon as I was old enough that my parents often visited to grandfather Partridge's, which was only 2 miles off & permitted us children to go often which we esteemed very hightly, for we thot there never was such a good place as grandpa Partridges: Silver spoons to eat our pudding and milk with, white washed walls to our rooms where we slept which was not common in those days & every thing so clean & nice; but your great grandmother Partridge was proverbial for neatness among older people. They had one child a son, half brother to your grandfather Hunt, but I think your grandfather Hunt had two own brothers and 2 sisters, one sister who sickened and died at our house whose name was Sally & Rebecca the mother of my cousin Tirum Ripley, who if living is in Mich. but my uncles, fathers brothers, were seafareing men & died at sea I think one's name was Lemuel Hunt the other I do not recollect. As to your grandparents on your grand mother Hunts side, I can go no farther back than your great grandfather whose name was Ambrose Blunt. your great grand mothers name was Joanna Clark. they raised seven children one of which was your grandmother Hunt named Joanna. the oldest sister was Miriam who married Ephriam Jones & they raised a large family, one of which I visited when in Ohio. The next of their daughters was born deaf & dumb, who lived to be about 60 yrs. old and died suddenly in a fit of appolexy her name was Mehitabel. The brothers names were Ambrose, Asher, Elisha and Walter. Your grandfather Hunt first settled within 40 rds of your great grandfather Blunts and carried on the farming & shoe making business untill near the close of the Revolutionary war, was in the war, had the command of a company & I suppose had he lived might have drawn a pension. Your grandfather Hunt moved from Conn. Norwich, Windham Co. into New Lebanon, Col. Co. in 1780 with part of his children the rest were born here your Aunt Tryphena was 13 yrs old, I was 11, and about 1796 moved up into North Hampton, Montgomery Co. where in 1820 Sept. 10, he died in the 75 yr. of his age with a fit of appolpexy and your grandmother Hunt died Mar. 12, 1825 in the 77th year of her age after having several shocks of Numbpalsy and about entirely helpless." <<Omitted: several Fellows & Rathbone paragraphs.>> ------ William Hunt: 5 Nov 1768-8 Oct 1853 Sally (Hunt) Cowles: 24 Sep 1793-1 Dec 1850 Susanna Cushing: no b. or d. dates, dau. of Caroline (Hunt) Cushing

    2. If you will go to www.beekmansettlers.com you will find information on Mr. Doherty's research. I would be glad to see any evidence that Ralph 1613-1677 had a father Thomas. He has been inaccurately described as a son of Thomas of Westchester. See "Some Descendants of Thomas and Cecilia Hunt of Stamford CT and Westchester NY" by George T. Fish with additions by Edward H. Leggett and later additions and corrections by Mitchell J. Hunt. -- Everett Hunt/CA [email protected] > > Everett: > > I was interested to hear about the book publication of Frank Doherty's > Beekman Patent Hunts. The reason is, the other Hunt families from St. Louis were also from New Jersey area(Trenton) and came to St. Louis earlier than my Hunt's and there was an earlier Wilson Price Hunt in St. Louis who did the exploration to Astoria Oregon. Many of the names in the other Hunt families from Trenton are almost the same names in my Hunt line. Mine-- Wilson Price, John,Ralph Hunt END
