I am in search of information on the parentage of James Hunt b. 1771 in Virginia (supposedly). He had a brother, Richard b. ca 1758 who served in the Revolutionary War. James and Richard came to Kentucky. James married Susannah Darnell and Richard's wife was Winney. Any help in locating their parents would be greatly appreciated. I am thinking from Richard's birth that their father would have been born in the late 1730's. Thanks in advance. Mary Alice Hunt
I have made copies of the hunt marriages listed in the book Early Middle TN marriages-brides & Grooms index If you want me to look someone up just let me know. The marriages are roughly around early 1800's to late 1800's. Tara

Hello Listers If anyone is researching any branch of this family, I would love to hear from them. There was a sizeable clan there at the 1800 census (private), which by the 1851 census had become depleted - some went to London and elsewhere to look for better opportunities and others emigrated to South Africa, that I know of, and probably to other parts of the world as well. Thanks Cynthia Hunt

I'm trying to help another "hunter" and thought I'd post this: Does anyone have any basic information on James Hunt, son of Rev. James Hunt, Presbyterian Minister, and grandson of the James Hunt "Sr." who died in Charlotte Co. VA, 1795 ? I'd like to discover some basics, like exactly where he lived 1785-1795, if he married and to whom, names of children if any, and where he died. I estimate this younger James Hunt was born 1760-1765, possibly in NC or VA, but probably in Maryland, and was no doubt growing up in Prince George's County, Maryland, at the time his father opened a school at Bladensburg in 1770. So far, I haven't been able to spot this James in Maryland records. If my age estimate is close enough he might have been one of several James Hunts who survived military service in Maryland during the Revolution, but I'm "not there yet" in the search process. There is ample evidence for his existence and having been alive (somewhere) in 1794. This James and his younger brother, William Pitt, were named in their father's Montgomery County, Maryland will written 1785. So far, this James hasn't appeared in records for settling the estate, but I've not quite completed the detailed searches. In his will Rev. James left all his property of every kind to his wife Ruth and 2 sons, including land in Maryland and a tract in Charlotte Co. VA. William Pitt Hunt apparently removed to Charlotte Co. VA near the end of 1796 bringing 17 blacks from his father's estate, and then dying in 1797 leaving a pregnant widow and 3 very young children. Nothing comparable has been found for son James. Would appreciate hearing from anyone with either data or clues. I have many more details not mentioned here, but they don't directly address the questions. Bill Hunt, Fairport
