    3. Thanks, Julie. I went back and looked again. He really was there. I was looking in the wrong state. I never knew he ever lived in Chicago. With an unusual name, it's better not to specify a state. People may not be aware that aliens who served during World War I were automatically granted citizenship, whether or not they had previously filed a Declaration of Intent. Although my father had filed his Declaration, he was naturalized through his World War I service. Remember to put in the state and his 1st name or you will get too many names to go through. Many times Ancestry reads and records a name wrong. All the best.
