The Hammond Times Indiana Dec. 3, 1937 OBITS Death takes Joseph SAMPIAS after stroke Former Steel Worker dies at age of 77 A paralytic stroke suffered two weeks ago proved fatal at 2 a.m. to Joseph SAMPIAS, 3731 Parrish Avenue, Indiana Harbor. He was 77 years old. SAMPIAS, who resided in Indiana Harbor for 31 years, was a former employee of the Inland Steel plant. He worked there for 32 years and had to retire three years ago because of failing eyesight. The deceased was born in Hungary on August 14, 1862. He was a member of the Verhovay Fraternal Association, a lodge that he joined 35 years ago, and the Sacred Heart Society of the Holy Trinity Church. Last year he and Mrs. SAMPIAS celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. In addition to his widow, he is survived by: Son: Joseph SAMPIAS Son: Nick SAMPIAS Son: John SAMPIAS all of this city.
