Margo, I can not take credit for this. It was Jack Kovacs who posted the original message, I only added the info of how to find the programming in your local area. I watched the program. It was great to hear and listen to the songs. Reminded me of my youth with my dad and his friends. Also the recent tour of the "Csardas tango of the east" tour that was here in Lafayette LA back in November of 2005. Thank you Jack, Laszlo (Les) Josa -----Original Message----- From: margokp@aol.com [mailto:margokp@aol.com] Sent: Monday, January 16, 2006 1:22 PM To: lesjosa@bellsouth.net; HUNGARY-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [HUNGARY-L] Pronunciaton Just watched the program and couldn't keep my toes from tapping. Also interesting that the English translation was so much less than what was actually being spoken and the language and song switched from Hungarian to Romany and back again. Thanks for letting us know about the program. We saw their performance last month in Ypsilanti (near Ann Arbor) Michigan. They were very good. Their one number where the groom wanders into the gypsy camp with everyone joining in song on the spoons, and water jug and drums was just like the songs I heard today. I agree about listening to my father and friends... it always seemed the louder they got, they better they sounded... or was it the more whiskey they drank the better they sounded?
