The Hammond Times Oct. 13, 1968 Indiana GOLDEN ANNIVERSARIES MARKED Mr. and Mrs. JOHN BALOG (wife Violet MALATINKA) Former East Chicago residents, Mr. and Mrs. John BALOG of Burnsville, Miss., returned to the Calumet region for a celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary. They were married Sept. 15, 1918 in Detroit, Michigan, and live in the area for 45 years. Two hundred relatives and friends attended a dinner-reception in their honor in the Whiting Elks Clubrooms. The celebration was given by their children, John A. BALOG of Griffith, Roy BALOG of Highland, Chester of South Bend, Clarence BALOG of Whiting and Mrs. Arthur (Dorothy) FORTENER of Whiting, David and Mrs. Vincent (Jane) ELIAS of East Chicago and Mrs. John (Mildred) CUMMINGS of Burnsville. They have 20 grandchildren. Out-of-town relatives among the guests included Mrs. BALOG'S brother-in-law and sisters, Mr. and Mrs. Adam DANGLER of Pasedena, Texas.
