    1. RE: [HUNGARY-L] Hungarian names

    3. In my family those with the name Karoly have been called Karl. By marriage license do you mean the license issued by a State or do you mean a marriage certificate. They can be two different things. Do not be too disappointed if it arrives and does not list the town of birth but only the country. If they were married in a church sometimes notes were made in the marriage record book and if you write to them they will usually give them to you. I have never used NARA so I do not know how easy or difficult it is to find Naturalization records. I have obtained several by writing or calling several government offices of counties I knew they lived in at one time or another. In the case of my grandfather with the name that is spelled at least 10 different ways (even in Hungarian records) it took three tries. I have never found him on EI records even though I know the name of the ship he came on and have never found him on a census. Elizabeth V. Cardinal evc1369@comcast.net
