    3. From the text of the President's speech, a few other people attended this ceremony and it was him responding to an invitation to the event. The question is where did the rest of these folks go to school, especially the Hungarian Ambassador and Congressman Lantos? When invited was the Prez supposed to tell them, sorry, boys, y'all have the wrong date? "I appreciate being here with the Mayor of our city, Mayor Williams. Good to see you, Mr. Mayor. I appreciate Chairman Hyde. Mr. Chairman, it's good to see you. I thank the members of the diplomatic corps, most particularly, Ambassador Walker. I've heard of him before. (Laughter.) Ambassador Simonyi -- thank you all. Members of Congress, most particularly a beacon for -- a steadfast beacon for liberty is how I'd like to define my friend, Tom Lantos." Joe JOSEPH N. SOOS, SR. 3. My husband and I have just returned from Hungary where we participated in the celebration of the March 15 beginning of the 1848-49 War of Liberation. I, too, was exceedingly embarrassed when I was informed that Bush actually associated Lajos Kossuth with the '56 Revolution. The two ceremonies in which we participated (in Budapest on the 14th and in Aszód on the 15th) made no reference whatever to the '56 Revolution. Although a reading of Bush's speech did not specifically mention Kossuth at all, it was unfortunate that references were made to the 1956 Revolution. The impression was that he was actually confusing the two events and that he had no idea who Kossuth was. Though many of the Hungarian we met there did not speak English, they all knew one word--STUPID! Janet Kozlay
