    3. I would like to share with you an email I received from my cousin in Hungary this morning. While you will not understand or be able to piece together much of it, I thought it might be interesting to see how names changed through the years and how they revert back to the original. It also shows how families moved from village to village depending on their occupations and if they were "owned" by one of the Princes. In my family it was Esterhazy who as you know owned vast estates. It also tells you the influence the German people had in the language especially if there were German Pastors. People, did not always know how to spell their names and the priests did not always know either so they wrote down what they heard. We think of priests today as educated men..that was not always so. He was born : Okt.14.1797 Szoc, Parents : Michael Diegi, Anna Maria Prancs. (Prancsin or Pranhin). The marriage of Michael and Anna was : Apr. 12. 1794 in Szoc. Anna Maria came from village Csicso (Today Balatoncsicso). They had other childrens too , and they went to Dorogd, further childrens were born in Dorogd, and their name were in records of Dorogd : Tegyi. The people who later have name Tegyi in other villages, in Szoc were : Tengy, Tenghy, Teghy, Degi, Diegi. This comes they lived in environment of people who spoke german language. I think this Michael Tegyi is the son of Georgius Tegyi(b:1732) who lived in Dorogd and Michael had a brother with name Georgius. This Georgius had childrens in Szoc, I have found Josephus, Georgius, Florianus, Joannes . In Szoc was a Severinus Tegyi, he had childrens with name Josephus, Joannes, Paulus. They(childrens of Georgius or childrens of Severinus) will lead to Mopsies Jozsef Tegyi. To Bob : The Imhoff's were related not only to Roth's and Knoll's, to Tegyi's to. In Szoc was a Laurentis Imhoff with wife Helena Tegi or Teghi in 1760's-1780's. I have found in Szoc Imhoff's in 1748, Anna Knoll in village Halimba in 1777. Regards, Istvan
