According to the website at http://www.behindthename.com/nmc/hun2.php, Vida as a given name is indeed the Hungarian form of Vitus. It is also a relatively common surname. I'm curious about the Veger's background as most Vegers are Dutch or French according to LDS. I definitely need to do more research on this line. Most of the Vegers from Sopron settled in South Bend, Indiana and many of the descendants are still living in that area. Anyone else out there have any connection with Vegers?
