Castle Garden Immigration Database I just received an email from another mailing list about a new site that lets you search an index for individuals who came to the US through Castle Garden between 1830-1890. (1830 through 1892,the year Ellis Island opened.) Castle Garden was the processing center for immigration into New York before Ellis Island was established. There are still some problems with the search engine such as clearing an entry to start a new search but it is a great resource. http://castlegarden.org/
